Nice guys are hard to find, or so I have been told. Well, I am a nice guy who has many fine qualities that are scarce these days: I am domesticated (I cook, shop and do laundry), I have no ex-wives or children, no major debt and I can be funny at times.

I am looking for someone who is very intelligent, who wears little or no makeup and is more of a Levi's jeans and Polarfleece jacket sort, not a "girly girl", and someone who likes to smooch.

I like to watch classic and foreign films on DVD, eat at cheap ethnic dives or taco trucks or stay home and cook. The music that I listen to would be described as "eclectic", lots of old Western Swing, oldies, folk, singer-songwriters. KPIG is my favorite music station. (Please don't force me to listen to boring old KFOG) I am also an NPR & PRI junkie and never miss "Wait, Wait, Don't tell me!"

The most recent movie that I saw in a theater was "Julie & Julia", which I adored.
I like to watch foreign murder mysteries with subtitles. I really wish that I spoke French. I never watch regular TV sitcoms or other crap that people seem to care about (but will be a good companion and rub your neck while you do). I know very little about pop culture. I read the New Yorker magazine religiously.

I like dry salami & Swiss cheese sandwiches with mayo and perhaps some sliced red onion. I think that pears are nature's perfect fruit.
I like good coffee but will drink whatever is in front of me. Bacon is a major food group. My favorite food is Cantonese, but really any Chinese food is fine with me. Especially steamed dumplings. Love dumplings. And Thai food. Love Thai food.

I am a stocky, barrel-chested fellow and would never be described as "athletic". I do like to take regular walks and I do get regular exercise but clearly not enough. The only pilates that I know of are the ones that hijack vessels. I do eat pretty healthy foods and carefully watch what I eat, except on the weekends.

My idea of a good evening is to open a bottle of dry, red wine, get two glasses, put on a DVD (a French romantic comedy) and snuggle on the couch with my sweetie. A perfectly ripened pear and some cheese would be nice too. I want someone to eat cheese with.

My goatee is going gray, but the hair on my head is still brown. Go figure.

I have an unnatural affection for my old VW Camper, but don't expect my sweetie to put up with camping where there are only pit toilets. I have a normal car too, but I like to drive my old bus on the weekends. My dog likes it too.

My politics would be described as Progressive Democrat. I am from Berkeley, after all. I am employed, but underemployed. I can pay my way though.

All those people who say that they are at home in either jeans or a tux? That's not me. I don't own a tux. I rarely dress up, though I do own black pants and a clean white shirt and tie. I am an early bird and am usually asleep by 9:30 pm. I am not working up to my potential, but am a nice guy who is fairly reliable and who kisses really, really well.

My idea of a great first date would be to meet up for an ice cream cone.
