About Me
Spontaneous, outdoors type. Enjoy warm weather kayaking, rafting, camping & hiking. Live in beautiful redwood country in CA & not much of a city girl, excepting SF. I usually get along better w/ men who've had children -- a mutual understanding of the importance of family. Also seem to mesh better with men who are moderately liberal. I think Obama rocks & is already changing our worn out political paradigm! I'm not overly political, simply excited about our present times & very hopeful. I retired 2 years ago & am lookng for an adventurous, humorous & cooperative travel companion. By that I mean someone whose not stuck on any one itinerary if a change of plans seems appealing; flexibility being the key to opening many new & fascinating opportunities, be it on the open road or elsewhere in life. Primarily I'd like to meet my best friend & soulmate. Afterall, it's the friendship that truly endures to the end. I'd like to find someone who can rough it, cuddling in a tent & sleeping bag, but who also enjoys finding out-of-the-way, unique places like rustic cabins, hot springs, tree houses, etc. as alternatives. Cleaning up after outdoor adventures, cuddling near a fire at a B&B has its advantages as well. Both ends of the travel/adventure spectrum I find to be a perfect combo. I love road trips & going to State & Nat'l parks. Rivers are my place of solitude. Altho' we have beautiful coastal marshes & lagoons nearby that also have been my source of refuge & renewal. I've worked hard to establish a life of financial & personal security, and would like to meet same to share my retirement years. I've begun reading more about the spiritual life & find it a wonderful way to revive one's sense of openness, trust, and mutual respect. I've been known to tapdance & to play steel drum (not necessarily at the same time). Sad to say, I'm somewhat timeliness challenged, if we want to talk flaws. But I compensate w/ humility & a pretty decent sense of humor & wit. I find Scrabble, crossword puzzles & sudoku a fun way to pass the time when I'm feeling a bit bored & the winter rains have set in. How 'bout you?
First Date
So many people comment on this being a first meeting not a date. Date, Schmate - this is just a matter of semantics. Whatever I do w/ someone I'm excited to meet I want it to be something easy & not too pretentious. Definitely go somewhere in the great outdoors for a walk maybe & a little flirting if the spark is there: an opportunity to ask questions of each other & attempt to reveal who we are in a natural setting. Then if all feels right, maybe head out to a coffee shop for some great mocha or tea (hopefully a local shop - I'm a BIG believer in supporting smaller, local, non-corporate businesses whenever possible). If all goes well, then onward to a movie & perhaps a little hand holding, maybe a drink afterwards &, who knows, can you dance? Ah, but I s'pose I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. I am definitely one who attempts to take it slow but strong chemistry can sometimes be a huge deterrent.
