About Me
I love learning new things. I've been described as as analytical, independent, funny, reliable, fair, insightful and an excellent listener. Sure, that fits.
I’m an INTJ. If you know what this means there might be a long conversation in our future. My main hobby is cycling; I try to ride 3-4 times per week for exercise. In between bike rides this summer my main project was restoring a a full-length shuffleboard table that now lives in my basement.
There's so much more...I can't give everything away right from the start though, right? OK, here are a few more details:
- I work at a computer all day but don't know how to type. - My favorite quote is from Bertrand Russell. - I can actually admit when I'm wrong. - While I am logical and analytical I'm also secretly a romantic.
My education is in horticulture (That's right, I can keep your lawn green...especially if your lawn happens to be a baseball field) but now I work in IT. Why give up the fast-paced, glamorous life of horticulture?
A number of years ago I changed careers and have been working for a non-profit company ever since. The hard work never stops but now I have the autonomy to work on projects which interest me. Another positive....I get to work closely with a few others who are similarly ambitious and dedicated.
I'm really good at: - Listening - Laughing at myself. - Being allergic to walnuts. - Seeing "the big picture". Analyzing/solving problems. - Being trustworthy and dependable. - Eating cereal without putting milk on it. - Not snoring. - Using bullet points and parentheses when writing.
Movies and music: Movie-wise, I enjoy comedies like This is Spinal Tap], Raising Arizona and Christopher Guest's mockumentaries such as Best in Show. I take a lot of abuse from my friends for it, but I love Better Off Dead. I'll put it up against any of the more well known '80s comedies.
As for dramas, it's easy to see why Lawrence of Arabia is considered a classic. The same goes for Heat. Some others that come to mind are Dark City and City of God.
My computer speakers recently broke so I've been listening to music with headphones. She was already my favorite, but listening to Ella Fitzgerald this way has only reaffirmed for me just how great she was. Amazing! Some other artists I like are King's X, Louis Jordan, Stray Cats, Aimee Mann (excluding her most recent album), James Brown, Kyuss, Karma To Burn, Roger Waters or whatever else strikes my fancy. Don't worry, you will not be forced to listen to any of them. :)
Six things I could never do wothout: - Hot showers - Friends who make me laugh - Intriguing and thought-provoking questions - Warm weather - People I respect and admire - Artificial lime flavor: green popsicles, Sonic [[lime slush]], green jelly beans, lime Jello...you get the idea.
I spend a lot of time thinking about: Get comfortable, this may take a while....
I love to think; it is fantastic. So many topics to research, so many new things to learn. It's safe to say I'm rarely ever bored; there are too many interesting subjects to engage my curiosity.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here: Nope, not here...it could ruin my candidacy someday.
Seriously, ask in person, though, and I'll share most anything. Try me.
