Feet landing solidly on the wet grass, she gazed up at the statuesque trees. She paused in her wandering and stood wondering. What power, strength, incredible energy these silent sentinels held. How inspiring their presence.

And as her sight was drawn to study the luminosity of the sunlight through the leaves; and she gently inhaled the scent of recent rain, she became aware of a seed of longing. A gentle, slightly hesitant desire to be able to turn to another; to share this experience. She turned and trudged on.

She found a fallen trunk and sat staring at the ripples on the surface of the lake and reflected on her life. Generally happy, fairly fullfilled, she felt secure in being with herself. Her life was full with activites she enjoyed (though the gym was a bittersweet one!) and she had the time and space to be her own person...yet there was a tiny sense of wanting more....of wanting to appreciate the small things; laugh, relax, share opinions, explore; with another.

She found it hard to meet people in the usual ways as clubs were a place she went to dance, and alcohol in general was not a huge part of her life. Single, interesting men were a slight rareity in the social circles she moved in, and it was hard to know exactly how the whole dating scene worked. As she made her way home, smiling at the beauty of nature and appreciating the warm sun on her skin she decided that surely internet dating wasn't that bad. She decided to at least give it a go.

And she was sick of trying to write profiles...so one day she sat and wrote a little story. If you want to know the ending, you will have to message her.

date...that word has so many connotations... : ) if we get on well enough to want to meet, i'm sure we'll figure it out!


ps....yep, i have loads of blokes on my favourite list....but i haven't had any contact with many of them...(shrugs)
