In my opinion, the purpose of a first date is to get to know someone the best you can so you can determine if the person is something you are looking for or not. Therefore, in the date you should go to some place where you can talk a lot without interruption. I am not a fan of taking a girl to the movies on a first date. It doesn't give much of an opportunity to converse, and its not very original. I would rather think of some place special, because after all, it is the first date. Where that place would be depends on the girl.
