I aspire to be the gregarious uncle who shows up at family reunions with stories of eccentric shenanigans, then slips the teenagers a couple bottles of beer.

I’m the only person I know (besides the people I met there) who has lived north of 60. I spent a year in a town called Wrigley in the NWT, working in the local school.

I graduated with a BA in history and poli sci, and I'm thinking about getting into teaching eventually. That or government. Or journalism. Ok, let’s just say I have no idea what I want to do with my life. But who says you have to choose now? I have to make sure I find something that I like. Right now I work a couple of security jobs to pay the bills. For things that I do enjoy, I do like sailing (I grew up on the west coast), and kayaking, when I have a chance to do them. In the city, going to see a local band is usually good times.

My musical tastes are pretty eclectic, on my playlist I've got everything from Dropkick Murphies to Great Big Sea to Kool and the Gang to John Lee Hooker. Hip-hop/rap is the only thing I'm not fully into, but I'm more than willing to give it a try. As for movies, I really prefer a good action movie in the theatre, while comedies are better for at home on the couch. I don't really watch a lot of TV, but when I do, it’s more shows like The 4400, Jericho or BBC comedies like Red Dwarf or Coupling.

I'm a bit of a shy guy when you first get to know me, but I warm up pretty quickly. I much prefer smaller groups when going out, but every so often a huge party can be a lot of fun. That shyness disappears though, if I start talking (some of my friends would say ranting) about a subject that’s dear to my heart, of which there are a couple.

As for someone I'm looking to meet, I don't really have a lot of 'requirements'. I would prefer a non-smoker, but other than that, I would prefer to get to know you first before passing judgement.

Sky diving, definitely. And if that doesn’t work out, we’ll just have to wing it.
