It wasn't all that long ago, I was a homeless person. A good friend of mine that I met during this, not so great period of my life; told me I needed to learn the "complicated" side of homelessness. 2007 saw two very large conferences, many board meetings; even sitting in on our Mayors planning committee relating to his "Ten Year Plan" to end homelessness. Having been on the consumer side and learning the complicated side has afforded me a unique perspective of the issue. A larger view, as it were. I sincerely believe that somewhere between one third and one half of all Idahoans live and work in poverty. Our neighbors Oregon and Washington are much farther down the road in addressing the needs of their less fortunate citizens. Idaho needs to follow there lead. I encourage everyone to register to vote. If it takes putting health professionals in political office to affect positive change, then so be it. Voting is the one tool still left to us the citizens of Idaho. Just started a nonprofit. i know its going to be alot of work. Idahoans living in poverty is its name plus the Inc. Help me get Idahoans living in poverty registered to vote. Yes I am single and would love to have a female partner who is on the same page.
