A few random factoids about me:

-I get called "the nice guy" by just about everyone I meet EVER, which is both a curse and a blessing. I grew up with 3 sisters (and no brothers), so I don't know any other way than to treat women well. Just not in me to do otherwise.

-I can make you laugh in about 10 minutes since I have a different way of looking at things most of the time. An example? Am I the only one that thinks it's funny or ironic that Elton John, a BRITISH person (as opposed to a Canadian, Spaniard, Frenchman, pick a country), had a hit song called "Philadelphia Freedom"? Isn't that who we won our "Philadelphia Freedom" from? :^)

-My hometown downstate has a name that forever cracks people up. It's Teutopolis, which is pronounced "two-TOP-less". No joke! On top of that, our sports teams' nickname in high school was the Wooden Shoes (as opposed to the Eagles, Warriors, Bears, etc.). Again, no joke!

-I'll bring you a rose on the first date (most likely yellow). To me that's just common sense and the way I was brought up.

-I'm big on family. All of them live in my hometown 250 miles away. I actually like kids and have 4 nephews and 2 nieces that I ADORE!

-I'm a sucker for a beautiful set of eyes.

What am I looking for? I'm looking for a woman to hang out with and have a decent conversation with. I read a lot, so I usually have a lot to talk about. Doesn't have to be a highly intellectual conversation necessarily, but just something other than the weather. :^) If you like sports even a little bit, we'll get along fine. (Bonus points if you know what a "tottenham hotspur" is- yes, it's sports-related.)

If you like to travel (who doesn't?), it's a huge bonus. With my last job, I traveled A LOT (300 days a year), so I've seen a lot of the country and some of Europe too. Did it all by myself (for the most part) and would love to have a partner-in-crime for any of my future adventures. Top of my wish list? Definitely Australia or Hawaii, since I've never been to either.

Update 9-7-09: Been laid-off for about 2 months now, however I've started doing some bartending part time, hoping to take it full time soon. Funds are a little tight right now (for obvious reasons), so don't know if I'd be able to do a full-on date upfront. Feel free to shoot a line though, but thought it fair to let you know that right away.

"First dates ARE interviews, Gwen. Write that down."- Van Wilder. In all seriousness, something casual like lunch or even coffee just to get to know each other. I've never been to Second City. Anyone else game?
