About Me
I read about a couple who met online. They started emailing, which progressed to talking on the phone, which progressed to meeting, and then dating, and then getting engaged, married, kids, happily ever after. But here’s what really makes this a unique story – during their first phone conversation they discovered they had things in common. Actually, a lot in common. They lived in the same part of town. They ate in the same restaurants and hung out in the same bars. They worked out at the same gym, and they even went to the same church. And here’s the real gem – they discovered they lived in the same apartment building.

They each had very active and full and healthy and cool lives – and their lives were actually very intertwined. But even so, and even though they had probably seen each other in passing or maybe even said hi on the elevator before, it took an online dating site to introduce them. In fact, if it weren’t for the online dating site, their lives could have taken dramatically different paths and they perhaps would never have found the happiness they now have.

Being a single young professional can be rough sometimes – we lead incredibly busy lives, and even though our lives can be very full, almost overwhelming, at the same time they can be very empty too. Our dating pool seems limited to friends of friends, etc. And even though we likely go to bars and have fun sometimes, it’s not really the setting to meet somebody real – nobody wants to one day answer the “Where did you and Mommy meet” question by saying “Daddy picked up Mommy at The Rack one night.” So maybe this site helps to take some of the randomness out of meeting people – we can find other likeminded people, make new friends, expand our social circles. And hopefully find that one person who should be in our lives but for whatever random reason isn’t yet, like the couple who lived in the same building.

As you can probably guess, I’m a renaissance man – thoughtful, articulate, and I can even be pretty smart. But I’m also (and perhaps more importantly) a very funny guy – I mean, really hysterical. My friends and coworkers will tell you I can light up a room with my sense of humor. I love to laugh and love to make others laugh too. I’m happy and optimistic and have a cool groovy and unique “artist-like” perspective on life – but with a very grown up full-time job and no goth/grunge tendencies (but, not that there's anything wrong with being goth - my Dad's going thru a goth phase right now, as a matter of fact ;-).

When I’m not saving the world from the perils of sinkholes, I love sun worshiping at the pool or beach on weekends with a bloody mary (what a cool drink – you get vodka, vegetable juice, blue cheese stuffed olives and a celery snack all in one), or getting out, being active and having fun. Great dinner and good wine? I’m all in! Spontaneous weekend trip? Let’s go! Football season rocks (go ‘Noles and Redskins), but I think I enjoy the social aspects of the tailgates and game watching parties more than the sport itself.

I love a good happy hour, I hate shopping and trying on clothes, I love meeting new people and trying new things, cabbage makes me puke, I prefer Scotch, and I excel at tripping little old ladies and stealing their handbags (j/k about that – cabbage doesn’t really make me puke, I just don’t like it :-). I’m very educated and confident, but I’m never arrogant, rude or condescending. I am not an ax murderer or a pickup artist, but I am a very strong and passionate man who isn’t afraid to stand up for what I think is right.

So this is the part where I say something really profound and original like, “If you want to know more, just ask.” :-) Oh yeah, and I’m a little sarcastic sometimes, in a good-natured joking way. But seriously, if you think we have things in common, say hi. Who knows–maybe like the guy and girl living in the same apartment building, maybe we’ve got a lot more in common than we even know.

Ciao

First Date
Why does everybody always put dinner and a movie here? That's the kind of date my married friends (and my parents) go on with their spouses... I prefer something really chill and low key at first - let's get to know each a little. Something casual - maybe meet for happy hour and see where things go, or coffee (or a bloody mary ;-) on a weekend morning? Someplace where we can casually talk (and hear) and see if maybe there's mutual interest and attraction. Or, let's just get hammered... ;-)
