| | I am back! I am continuing my quest of finding someone to spend the next 50 years with (optimist). Feel a little talkative now. I have been in love three times. As a young man I let her get away, regrets yes, baggage no. My second love died on the vine from lack of attention, we didn’t work at it and through the normalcy of the relationship we didn’t keep the fires alive. I care for the mother of my children to this day, and want nothing but happiness and success for her. My last love proved to me that I do know how to nurture a relationship, I gave it my all, but for her the timing was not correct and she wasn’t “madly in love” (more on that later).
I never cared for the lists but do see the value in them now, so here goes. What I want in a relationship:
• A Click – a mutual attraction is a must, I want to look at you everyday and so you will know I want no other (I am not shallow or perfect nor do I expect the same)
• Intelligence – We will converse, discuss, and debate on a daily basis. I hear enough of “I don’t know?” and “Whatever!” from my kids. LOL
• Appreciation of Life - Life is too short to not appreciate the little things. We can have goals to acquire material possessions but when we blow away in the dust no one ever remembers what you owned, but what you left in the hearts of others.
• Dedication – When we give our hearts to one another it will be unconditional. These sites are full of people looking for quick fixes. The path from peak to peak of a strong relationship is bridged by hard work during those trying times
• Pride – I want you to be proud of what you do and who you are. Physically take care of yourself, because we will be spending the rest of our lives together. Be feminine and tough. (No smoking, no excessive drinking, or lack of exercise).
• Want Us - Relationships dependent on needing one another are out of balance and crumble as the needs change or one leans too heavily upon the other. We should bring support to a relationship not dependency. I will want you everyday, not need you.
• Acceptance of Reality (Note: this not same as “Settling”) - Relationships are not easy if they were we wouldn’t all be out here looking for our last one. Don’t expect us to feel like we are “Madly in Love” every moment of our relationship, there will be ups and down, through the valleys and up to the peaks, but it will be an adventure we will be glad we traveled together. Well ladies, hope you aren’t tired of my list, we are all looking for that great last love of our life, much is left to chance but if you don’t have a target you will never know for what you are aiming (wanting).
I am a person who appreciates the basic things, family, health, and friends. I have a strong work ethic and try to share that and other values with my children. I am looking for the opportunity to get to know someone better. I am grateful for my physical ability and appearance. I would like to spend my time with a positive and affectionate person.
Does anyone else think this dating is a great deal of work. I am positive it will be worth it. I am a positive person who looks for solutions. I care deeply for my family. Help others. Realistically I didn't want a divorce, but you can't make another person happy. Gave the last relationship 100%, but the click wasn't there for both of us, hopefully we can maintain our friendship, really. I am highly passionate and attentive to "the one" in my life.
