I've met someone in POF .. *smile* ..So I'm out of the dating pond but will be keeping my account here to participate in the Forums .. I am a feminine woman and just melt down when with a non-abusive, decidedly masculine man who can take control without being domineering or controlling. A partnership where I demure because it's my nature to, not because you bully me. Equal but different.

I'm often attracted to:
Creative People. Thinkers. Left-leaning Liberals/Socialists who are aware of what's going on in the world outside their own front door (Science/Politics/World Events, etc..)

Someone who is:
..already happy - not materialistic - not mainstream - smarter than average - leans left, way left - appreciates actual food (not the ish most people are setting on their tables these days) - comfortable in low-rent joints and snazzy places - independent, original thinker - mellow, friendly to people in general.

Other than that:
..similar interests in books, conversation, music, places to go and see and hang, how we view the universe and our place in it. Willing to share a 'together nearly 24/7, high-monogamy' lifestyle and able to do that without crowding me or feeling crowded himself.

Perks, but not necessary:
..a calm, very male voice - eyes I can get safely lost in - physically affectionate in day-to-day living - able to make decisions confidently.

About me:
An unlikely mix of *40s sexkitten and 60s bohemian*. Comfortable to get to know, open, friendly, laughs easily, often talks to strangers. A calm mediator rather than a button-pusher. More serious than silly. More sweet than bawdy. Can't remember the last time I lost my temper.

Because it's expected, a description:
Light-brown/ dark-blonde/ sort of reddish hair, long to mid-back, naturally very wavy (sometimes I straighten it). Blue eyes. I am not hugely obese but I gained a bit during my late husband's hospice. It's coming off again. I used to be a dance teacher so I'm not naturally heavy. Meet me now and avoid the rush in a couple of months...*lol*... Not dieting, just getting back into my life after his passing. Life Is Good.

My interests are about simple/sustainable living:
Thrift stores. Second-hand books. Museums. Gallery openings. Funky, low-rent restaurants. On the street fun. I like Reading, Writing, Drawing, Veil dancing, Meditating, Sewing with needle and thread (the fabric in my lap rather than using a machine), The ocean, Quiet evenings backyard-surfing: listening to the sounds of the night and talking about the stars and life and what's going on in the world. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

Travel. Books! NPR & PBS. Movies on DVD. Frilly lingerie & nail polish! (on me, not you). My primary work: Hypnotherapist.

Spiritually:
I consider myself aware of the universe and believe life goes on .. but I'm not religious. I just don't believe that God came to earth to save us and wrote about it in a book (any book) and that unless you've read that book or heard about it you're outta luck. I do believe in Universal Consciousness .. in right doing and karmic balancing .. in the power of collective intention. I believe that everything we do, everything we even think, affects the entire universe and every other living thing in it. I believe in religious and cultural tolerance, in peace and non-violence, and that Love, in it's most profound definition, unlocks the secrets of the soul.

Money is of zero importance to me.
I'm not looking for someone to support me. I seek the things that are free to everyone: Some food, some light, some work, some love are enough. Great people have found their joy in these common and simple things...

Friend? Lover? Confidant?
It would be nice to discover each of these in one person, and even better if that person saw them in me as well. A deeply committed, long-term relationship appeals, though I'm not looking for the institution of marriage.

What do you find sexy?
For me, it's the way you look at me. The way you touch me. Your voice. Your scent. Your hands. Your self-confidence. How we spend so much time together but don't crowd each other. Preparing meals together. Fussing over each other in that very traditional male/female sort of way. Our lovemaking. Oh yes, our lovemaking..sexXxy!

Adding:
Dave tells me I should've mentioned how funny I am. *wink* Didn't really think of it. Plus, adding the word 'humor' anywhere in my profile tended attract snappy-one-liner people that others would find adorable but who I decided were rarely serious. All is well that ends well.

It's harder than heck to meet someone willing to leave pretty much everything behind and relocate to a third-world country to create a life together in some remote, lush, coastal/jungle paradise. Somehow in this whole, big pond, Dave and I found each other. We were both awed at having actually met someone who is so on the same page. (I was considering Nayarit. He was looking at Dominical.) While we were both open to a relationship, we also wanted to take the getting to know each other stage slowly. We wanted to be sure there was more than mere attraction between us. It's been a year and a half now. There is.

Our first date? I flew out from Texas to meet him in Florida. From there we spent a week near Dominical, Costa Rica - rented surf boards, rode horses in the primary rain forest where we saw wild toucans, white-faced monkeys, a sloth, etc. We visited a beautiful waterfall, played at a secluded beach cove with amazing caves, made local friends, ate at roadside stands and in funky, open-air restaurants (no walls or glass windows) .. and enjoyed late-night conversations getting to know each other. Then back to Florida, laughing and exhausted.

I love that he likes to talk about life and his take on the world situation. I love that he has a plan and that his meshes with mine. I love his eyes and his voice and and his smile and his easy way of looking at what's around him and making the best of it all. He has everything any man might feel arrogant about but arrogance isn't his style. Arrogance isn't 'cool' ..and if one word could describe Dave, it would be 'COOL'.. in that casually sexy, laid back, vintage surfer-dude sense of the word .. mmmmm .. !

Why leave the USA for life on the coastal jungle beaches of a third-world country? .. I long for a slower pace, a calmer, less consumerism-oriented, more sustainable, green lifestyle .. a place where people care about their neighbors and know everyone in the village .. a quiet place to read and write and walk and draw, to sew and plant things, dance with my veil in the sun and play in the warm ocean, a place to just see and be. Someplace the average American hasn't spoiled yet with Walmart and Starbucks (admitting, though .. I do like those caramel macchiato lattes.)

-- The first bushman to evolve in the Kalahari from the primitive man before him. We'd do lunch and: "I'll have what he's having."
-- Stephen Hawking. Charlie Rose. (Might want more than just lunch, though ..mmmMMMmmmm.. I do so adore dem smart mens! Plus, I'd like to pick Hawking's brain on a couple of points!)
-- Dean Martin. Playboy magazine called him 'The Coolest Man Who Ever Lived'. Oh, yeah...
