I have an old-fashioned heart and a modern mind. I believe in heroes, inspiration, looking for the best in people, and accepting the reality. I believe in the truth--even when it hurts. I believe everything (just about) has a time and a place.

I don't like trying to categorize myself too specifically because I like too many things to try to pin myself into a corner. It's easier to discern what I don't like, but this isn't the place for negativity.

I like movies, especially about superheroes, and I'm a little bit of a sci-fi geek. I always have a bookmark in a book. I took up knitting a year or so ago. I like to go for walks. I have an old beach cruiser bicycle that I take out when I can.

I like to learn. I have a tendency to take a fancy to a subject and dive in til I'm full of it. Then I'll find another and do it again. But I never really discard the previous interests. I'm always filling my mind with something.

I'm a Comicbook/superhero/scifi geek. I make no excuses. I like it. I also like classic lit. Green is my fave color followed by dark purple. I have lived in CA most of my life; sunshine is boring. Rain is an opportunity to explore something new.

I'm not caught up in the race to keep up with the Joneses. I don't even like diamonds, and I don't require a fancy car. I think buying flowers is a waste of money. I prefer dogs over cats, unusual over normal, creativity over mass-production, sarcasm over fluff, moonlight over sunshine, a cool breeze over a hot day, thoughtfulness over expense.

I have an affinity for organization, in many forms. I actually enjoy proofreading and editing. I love words. I like stretching my mind, and appreciating the familiar and learning to appreciate the unfamiliar. I try not to overlook moments of happiness in simplicity. I love going to classes but I hate homework.

I keep a livejournal (online blog), and have a website or two for my geeky interests. I am by no means a photographer, but I like to snap digtal photographs, even though rarely get them developed and I don't even own a printer. I don't like bugs, but I don't require someone to kill them for me. i despise capitalizing the word "i" most of the time. I like literal expressions and poetic language. I like to cook, and I babble when I'm nervous.

I love having punky hair colours. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Christmas is a close second. Any excuse to make costumes is a welcome one. I love RenFaires. Some have called me a goth, but tend to think I only have macabre tendencies and appreciations. I read Shakespeare and comic books. I like independent films and corny superhero flicks. I think Joss Whedon's work is wonderful. I'm a little dark, a little sarcastic, flirtatious with humor that's a little dry, sometimes perhaps a little risque.

I like word games, card games, board games, mental games, but not mind games. I don't expect anyone to read my mind. I will tell you what I want, what pleases me, and what I think. If you want to discuss it, I can do that too, but I know how to agree to disagree.

I have an inexplicable obsession with keys.

As much as my feet find solace from their gravitational intimacy with the earth, my heart thrives on magic, and I am content to see them both pleased.

My perfect match? He's a little like me in that he'd not like to be scientifically bagged and tagged. He'd be smart enough to keep up with me, or better yet challenge me, have a good sense of humor, perhaps slightly-off. He's a little bit stubborn, but not to a fault. He's honest, possibly to a fault. He's open minded and not judgemental. He's interested in sharing and learning, and he'd have his own creative outlet, it could be almost anything. He's young at heart and playful, mature but in touch with his inner child, and knows how to have frivolous fun. He can play video game without becoming obsessed with them. He reads. He values intelligence, honesty and compassion. He has a view of the world that isn't limited to his backyard, his car, his city, or even this plane of reality. He's not hemmed in by the rules of society, or plagued with the worry of what others think.
