I am a tall, nearly 51 year old woman. My children are grown and have lives of their own. I have a job that I usually enjoy, but it is what I do not who I am.
I am writing a novel for the entertainment of my female friends, a romance novel, it is about the ideal not the real. Most women enjoy that type of escapism when the dishes need to be washed and laundry is waiting to be cleaned.
I am a published poet, though it was many years ago in a very obscure publication.
I enjoy the fine arts(music, arts, dance, theatre) as well as things like cooking and wines. I love to plan and execute meals for family and friends. They never know what will be on their plates but they usually are happily surprised, could be anything from a simple pot roast to a 7 course French dinner complete with pot du creme au chocolat for dessert. I look at meals like that as gifts to my friends and family.

I make things, I love to create, more accurately I need to create. I sew quite a bit and though I know that doesn't make most men's hearts skip a beat, it is s very usefull skill. I have been known to tinker around with pottery from time to time as well.

I enjoy walks in the woods and mountains, start off at a relaxed pace and build from there. (I have asthma, so the building process is necessary.) I have visited 2 of the 3 best art musuems of the world and would love to visit the third, but St. Petersburg Russia might be a bit harder to get to than the others were.

I have pets, dogs to be exact. If dogs are not an animal you can deal with, best of luck in your search, mine are fixtures in my life.

I read a lot, almost any topic, learning fascinates me.
I have stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower, I have seen the Mona Lisa, I have eaten French food in an outdoor cafe in Paris. I love to travel, Paris was the farthest I have ever gone.
Okay who I would like to meet: someone who can carry on a conversation above and beyond NASCAR or the latest sports scores. I actually prefer guys that are slightly "nerdy" meaning computer types, Please I will pass on the SCA types. I like men with high IQs, slightly quirky sense of humor, and who know themselves well enough to be able to occasionally laugh at themselves. I left my "bad boy" phase a long time ago and prefer to keep it that way. I am not perfect and I don't expect a man to be either. I have no problem with people who are sports fans, I am just not one of them. That is what my hobbies are for, entertaining me while you enjoy yours..sound like a deal? I am nearly 6' tall so a taller man would be ideal. Someone in reasonable health, not looking for the champion body builder type, should be able to walk up a few flights of stairs without going into tachycardia and must be a NON SMOKER. Please have a sense of humor and at least a semester or three of college. Enjoy learning, be able to laugh at life's little speed bumps. Have a job or understand that mine supports me and I need to be attentive to it. Be financially self-supporting in some legal manner.

Understand that I do have interests outside of a relationship, like classes I go to and really enjoy, a family that sometimes needs my help or attention, and friends whom I dearly love.

A first meeting would be for coffee or maybe lunch to just get a sense of the other person. A first date would be maybe dinner or a walk, some place where conversation is the main focus, getting to know each other a little better. Take things slowly and build something special, rushing things doesn't usually bring happiness.
