I live in a rural setting between Acton and Erin but I am not a country bumpkin. I was born in Toronto but am not a city slicker. My family sold the cottage in Haliburton in 1986 and I needed nature, so here I am. Some friends tell me I look younger than my age while others can guess my age within a year. Perhaps Oil of Olay was not the right choice so long ago and my friends need a better optometrist! I exercise regularly in an attempt to stay in shape; I am just not sure what shape I am trying to maintain. I am not a gym person though. I prefer nature walks and good old-fashioned manual labour. However, despite how many sit ups I can do, my abs make a better pillow than a cheese grater. I spend most of my leisure time around my country property just enjoying the tranquility. I am not a jet setter but I wouldn’t mind doing some exploring with a special friend. When I get the chance, I like to explore country back roads with no itinerary. I also enjoy movies, live theatre, cultural events and gardening. I am a pretty good cook, dabbling in a variety of worldly cuisines, as well as burnt toast. I also enjoy fine dining but the common factor is the ambiance associated with sharing the event with a special companion. I like gardening and have many years of toiling under my belt (and a fair amount of dirt too!). Some day, I hope to figure out what the heck I am doing. Right now, I can show you some pretty nice flowers and some really impressive weeds. I have a dry sense of humor with the goal of making anyone around me laugh, but I don’t always succeed! I also really enjoy conversation so I hope to meet someone who shares that interest. It is amazing what you can learn about another person when you are just sitting in a casual atmosphere exchanging thoughts. I am looking for a partner to enjoy life with. Live, laugh, love; perhaps we can discover some things that we both like and enjoy them more together?

To me, a first date should not be too presumptuous and should therefore be a simple affair such as lunch or coffee at a social setting. It could also be a walk in the park depending on the weather. The old fashioned "dinner and a movie" is too passe and it is not easy to converse with a mouth full of mashed potatoes or while whispering in a theatre. Keep it simple; those who do not expect anything are never disappointed.
