About four years ago I moved to Portand in order to be part of a more progressive, liberal, diverse environment. This city is a great place for one of my favorite interests which is music.  I play guitar, sing and I've written songs all my life.  I enjoy listening to blues, bluegrass, world and cultural music, blues-based rock, classical...really anything that's good and has some soul to it.  I also love to cook and try new foods, watch well-made movies (a lot of independent and foreign), laugh at British comedies, and read a lot of science, anthropology and history books. My degree is in cultural anthropology so someday I would love to visit some of the places and people I've learned about.  I have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, but silly things will make me laugh, too.  I love to be out in nature, watch the stars, maybe do some light hiking, but mostly my intention is to gain a sense of peace and wonder about life, the universe and everything. I'm a very contemplative person who can be a bit cynical and skeptical (which I'm quite proud of), but on the whole I'm well-balanced and happy, and just looking to share that happiness with someone else.

I think the best way to get to know someone is to sit and talk over coffee or a drink, maybe go for a walk in a park or visit a natural history museum. I prefer something simple and casual. I've found that over-planning a first date can feel artificial, and too many distractions just means it will take longer to get to know each other!
