About Me
Hmmm, I am accident prone, giggle when I should be serious, use any excuse to dress up in a costume, and get overly excited about all things Barack Obama. . .
In order to redeem myself even slightly, I should also say I just finished up a master’s degree and work as a policy analyst for the government (glamorous does not begin to describe the life of a civil servant . . .). I work in policy but I am most passionate about children’s issues. I spent several years working year round for a summer camp in Vermont but have said goodbye to the homeland of Ben and Jerry's and am in TO for good. The prospect of the snow melting enough to have the first patio beers of the spring is what keeps me going- that and the wish that the Counting Crows will come out with a new album. I am born and raised in Toronto but a piece of my heart belongs to Halifax where I went to undergrad- I am more comfortable at an Irish pub than at a trendy lounge. I have a soft spot for guitar players, big thinkers, readers, guys who can find humour in almost any situation, and am most attracted to people who can make conversation with anyone, whether is it my 60 yr old aunt or the guy who changes your oil. I am fairly extroverted and definitely find myself drawn to those who are similarly boisterous.
Thing I love: -Travel (my family is all over the US) -Reading the NY Times on Sundays -Exploring new parts of the city -K’naan
Things I am ashamed to admit I love: -Keeping the hope alive that one day the baristas at Starbucks will ask me if I want my “regular” -Chocolate covered jujubes -The occasional unusual crafty project -The lost art of letter writing
Things I absolutely detest: -The use of internet abbreviations spoken out loud -Being called “dear” by people I have just met -Chicken soup for the soul in all its many forms -People who ask questions throughout movies
First Date
Hmmm, my first date philosophy is the more creative the better . . .
-Mid afternoon drinks at a pub, and nose bleed seats at a blue jays game. -Coffee or drinks on a patio and wandering around the neighborhood until we give in and get ice cream/ have ridiculous characateur portraits drawn on the street/ sell our souls to one of the religious preachers in front of the Eaton center -Bowling (but only if you have great disrespect for people who use bumper lanes, and embrace low scores as a reason to play another game).
