About Me
Actually, I'm doing pretty well at learning to operate a steamboat myself (ask me when we meet; it's a long story!), but if you'd like to come along for a ride this summer, I'd love a co-conspirator. I've been a horse trainer and a reporter. Now I'm a grad student in medieval studies. I sneak away to Maine every chance I get. I have a German shepherd mix who likes to ride shotgun, but he's not much of a conversationalist. Also, he can't read maps very well.
Lately, I've been learning to dive; right now I'm trying to learn to play the dulcimer. I have rheumatoid arthritis, which has given me a bad ankle and sometimes forces me to improvise. I sometimes use a cane or a scooter (wanna race?), but it doesn't slow me down. I camp, cruise, do my own work on my house and cox crew. I'm a country girl who's been living in the city, a sentimentalist who can be tough when I have to and a dreamer who tries to make my dreams realities instead of sitting around waiting for them.
I'm looking for a man who knows himself pretty well and has figured out what it takes to make him happy. I want someone who can take me as I am and doesn't feel the need to either rescue me or be rescued by me. Maybe someone who can laugh at me a little and make me laugh at myself. Maybe someone who will challenge me. Above all, someone who understands that love is neither pretty nor simple, but something powerful and precious, worth the work it takes to get it right.
I promise you, I can roll around on the floor laughing at Calvin and Hobbes with the best of them when the moment suits!
