About Me
Love to cycle 15-25 mile loops. Although I get most of my cycling done during my commuting, I would enjoy sharing brunch rides a couple of weekends a month.
Am a beginner kayaker, and would love to share Lake Natomas with a kayaking friend
In the winter, I X-C Ski at Royal Gorge (well, walking with funny sticks on my feet anyway). Afterwards, it would be fun to share some gluwein at the Rainbow Inn with just the right person....
Have a penchant for woodworking (have made some of my own furniture). I am working on a router table at this time…Correct that; it is finished and in one of the photos. Cancel the last sentence; the photo was removed by POF 'cause they did not think it was me in the picture. Okay....
TV runs toward HGTV, Mystery Theater, Western Movies, British humor (wink, wink; nudge nudge; a knowing smile). The series 'Coupling' is painfully funny. Tend to listen to KXPR, KXJZ, KVMR. Garrison Keilor rocks! As Shakespeare once said, I do 'know a cod from a codpiece'. Am a semi-recovered Parrothead, and still enjoy Radio Margaritaville at:

Have all the car camping gear and no one to share it with.... and sleeping in a canvas condominium by one’s self is like a BB bouncing around in a gallon glass jar.
Occasionally go to the small theaters that are burgeoning in Sacto. Try to get to the Sunday concerts at the Crocker and the Sunday Sacto Traditional Jazz concerts.
Like to get down to the Bay and go sailing every once in while. Looking to pick up a little 14' sloop for local stuff and alpine lakes.... am a member of the Lake Washington Sailing Club
Used to ride English but had to give it up due to allergies that developed. Unfortunately the same goes for being around cats (allergies that is)....
Absolutely no interest in golf.... like Will Rogers said, golf is a 'perfectly good way to ruin a nice walk'.... same goes for tennis. I really tried to like it, but spent more time off court chasing balls than playing. And I never really 'groked' that scoring system.... I mean I always thought 'love-all' was a saying from the sixties.... I co-own a little East Sac bungalow with the mortgage company. Seems there is always something to do on a 60 plus year old house. Due to necessity I have learned to be an eclectic electrical guy and can now do basic plumbing with aplomb.
Not a bad cook (meaning you would never throw out anything I made *S*). Love to cook breakfasts, crock pots, pasta, grilled fish, kitchen-sink salads. More of a warm up and serve/charbroil person than a full blown gourmet cook...
Have lived on three continents and an archipeligo in my life; settled (for now) in Sacramento. Am an AF Brat with a lotta AF years myself.....
Hopes and expectations: I am always up to meet new friends, without much expectation of more. Although I would love to be surprised..... *S* That surprise would have to be a non-smoking woman my age who still liked to get out and cycle, kayak. Someone who had a nice mix of couch potatoe and outdoor person in her.
I guess what I am saying is that I am not solely looking for *The Relationship* right now. Not that I don't want, wish and dream of it. But I have found that kind of closeness does not just happen; it gradually grows with the trust and intimacy that time together brings. So my immediate expectations are more of a weekend/ weekday evening friend with which to cycle and kayak, sup and share good times. Of course like all of us on here, I wish, hope and will for a friendship that will over time become the foundation for a loving lifetime partnership. AKA marriage. ...
Now if that person enjoyed spending time in a wood shop, riding the bike trail, putzing about Royal Gorge or handling lines (and tiller) on a sloop, well then, so much the better.... *S*
I am looking forward to your email!
Looking back on this profile, it looks as if all I have spoken of is of my interests. I was trying to illuminate who I am, and it is certainly not a fixed or frozen list. I would expect to meld with anyone that I share time with and join in with her interests much in the same way that she would share my activities. Yes, I enjoy fireplaces, mulled wine, walks by the ocean (but its over 100 miles away!),trips to Tahoe et al (sixty miles)....and I will dutifully hold your purse while you try on an an outfit .... and have no problem going to the store to pick up those 'feminine products' in an emergency.... but what I want is the kind of relationship that moves both ways, and stretches us and allows both of us to grow.
If anyone has a question, lets meet for coffee and chat about it!
**** News Update! I have just started to shoot again and am becoming a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) SASS is not that well known, so write me a post and I will tell you more.... ****News update # 2! I just got a small sloop in San Francisco .... yeah! ****Update #4; I am a pledge (probably a Guiness record in that for the oldest pledge *S*) for the Oddfellows ... and all my friends quip that it is just typecasting *L*
First Date
First 'dates' would be something non-threatening and public. Hoist a cuppa, pint or whatever. Someplace where it is quiet enough to have a conversation and get to know one another. No bars; well maybe a pub.... there is this pub within crawling distance of my house (but I rarely drink now, so that crawling distance thing is not germaine anymore *L*. Just don't like to get behind the wheel after even one drink....)
o if this kind of thing sounds like fun, send me a post and we can get to know each other through the website .... I am perfectly okay with sending a few posts back and forth before 'taking the plunge' with a face to face get together... *G*
Further Dating: perhaps go on a tandem ride with another tandem-ing couple that I know....
Actually, my favorite kind of time is to put a crock pot on in the early morning, go out for 20-30 miles on the single or the tandem, and pick up some fresh sourdough on the the way back. Then return home to devour the bread and the stew with a little vino...... in the winter, a fire could be added to the mix..... warming up around a hearth after a cool ride makes the fire that much nicer...
