About Me
I’m a family-oriented DC transplant with two teenage daughters (one lives in Charleston with Mom and the other is across town in college), a 29-year-old son and a two-year-old grandson. I’m a die-hard romantic still looking for that once-in-a-lifetime relationship – one that's open (with each other), honest, faithful, respectful, usually balanced, and always affectionate.
I really love my time with family and friends, music, reading, singing, laughing, cooking, hiking, creativity in anything, movies, the symphony, art galleries, museums, theater, learning new things, anything that involves a bit of adventure or exploration, spontaneity, and occasional fishing or meditation. I also enjoy going to amusement parks with my daughters or heading out for a day of hiking, biking, or driving without a specific destination in mind.
I appreciate great perfume, romantic picnics or dinners (out or at home), moonlit nights, long hugs, a great kiss (many great kisses), slow dancing, fireplaces, cuddling on the couch, candles and incense, good wine, and massages.
I am well-educated (formally and informally) and try to read a book about every week or two. I write when I get the chance. I stay active and usually walk about 5 miles a day in a never-ending effort to stay in shape. I enjoy playing or watching sports (college basketball and baseball are my favorites) but am not a fanatic about any – especially “pro” sports. I really love diversity and new challenges in my life.
I have a fascination with everything and that constant feeling that life always has at least one more adventure in store. I love to travel and am always up for a challenge. Ireland (#1), Costa Rica, Paris, and an Alaskan cruise are on my short list for travel and Italy is not too far behind. I’ve been to Hong Kong and Indonesia but didn’t make it to nearby Australia. I’ve heard that it is very interesting and would probably like to go there someday, as well.
I work as a counselor in a Geriatric Psych unit and also write grant applications for my hospital, a rehab center, and several other companies.

First Date
It's hard to say what I would do because it takes two...it would depend on what the other person likes to do, where the date is, and what's going on in the area at the time. I always like new, unusual things, or simple things like good music, ball games, a walk downtown or in the woods, or a cup of good coffee. We should be able to see and hear each other. The focus for any date would be her level of comfort and trying to do something fun. Isn't that what it's all about?
