Hey I'm Mike. I play in a local "metal" band called Burnt Church. I put metal in quotations because we're a grindcore band, but I don't really expect the average person to be too up on their extreme metal subgenres. Music is what I love to do and what I want to make my career. I went to school for audio engineering and graduated from the center for arts and technology. At this point I'm trying to be involved with as many projects as possible while doing the whole day job thing.

Music, politics and film/tv are pretty much my favourite things ever. I like a lot of stuff besides metal and punk- I particularly dig a lot of hip hop, ska/reggae and 80's pop.

As for movies go; I'm pretty easy to please. I'll watch just about anything-sometimes bad movies are even better if they're so bad that they are fun to laugh at. I love horror and gangster/crime flicks especially. I also love watching foreign films; so please don't be a, "i dont like to read subtitles" person, that's no fun.

I'm also a vegetarian, pretty much vegan, although I eat cheese occasionally. You don't have to be, but I am and I'm strict about it.

I'm basically looking for someone who is most importantly intelligent, independent, open, caring and will challenge me. I need a partner who is on the same wavelength as me about the basics. I think friendship is the most important part of a good relationship. I also think having a life outside of your relationship is very important. I'm also kind of looking for someone who isn't incredibly tied to Halifax or Nova Scotia in general. I really want to travel in the near future. In addition to that I'd really like to live in some other cities and best case scenario- other countries. I was supposed to go to europe 2 years ago and the trip fell through at the last minute. I'm at the point in my life where I'm ready to go again and I'd love to have someone to share the experience with.

I dont drink excessively or do drugs. I do smoke pot- I don't smoke it 24/7 or anything; but I do enjoy it and see absolutely nothing wrong with it when done in moderation. Especially if you're going to compare it with alcohol, which is far more harmful. That being said if you're really into the bar scene or drinking constantly I'm probably not the guy for you. I'd much rather sit around and watch some movies or tv shows than go out to a bar. I pretty much limit my time in bars to when my band or a friend's band is playing.

I love animals and want to have a dog again when life circumstances allow. That's not to say I don't like cats though- I grew up with both; but I find having a dog a much more rewarding experience. I have a number of visible tattoos and plan on getting a lot more. I'm currently working on a half sleeve of "Cthulhu" from the works of HP Lovecraft. If you actually know who/what Cthulhu is that is major points.

To sum it up I want to meet a strong, intelligent woman with a strong sense of adventure and a sense of humor to match.

Anything. To be honest, I'm really bad at picking out activities. My default activity is usually watching a movie either at home or in the theatres. Bowling or minigolf is fun. Going out to a show and having some drinks works too. The AGNS could be cool, depending on what exhibits are on. It would have to depend on our common interests really though. I also like playing Risk, trivial pursuit and scrabble. I will take on all comers.

Once we know each other a bit better: Roadtrips! I love going other places, specifically Montreal. I like to try and get up there a couple of times a year. Camping is also pretty rad.
