A 60 year old man who still loves his wife and very much enjoys her company 36 years later told me some Secrets to Success:
1) Really Listen to your partener.
2) Never Argue, walk away and cool off. Talk about it later. Seek resolution for the matter, sit and have a conversation when you are both ready...even if not for a couple days.
3) Both people involved must have their Own Life, perfectly good on their own and even better to mesh together with the other's.
He said that after all these years, there is nothing better than to sit in the living room with his wife, with a cup of tea, to shoot the breeze, nothing better than that in the world. After 36 years of marriage I think that is amazing!
ABOUT MEN & ME: First of all I have never been involved with anyone who tried applying the above (3) methods. Oh well! Where is he now? (giggle) I have been happily single for almost 5 years now-since August 2003. With a couple of flings / false starts along the way, not much to speak of other than to say someone wanted too much too soon from me. Par example; talking about marriage within 30 days of meeting is a sure way to scare a gal off? So does saying the "L" word too soon.
I most certainly enjoy the companionship, the caring and sharing but I have been single for several years. The reason that we pair up is: in order to have our "Needs" met; on an emotional, psychological, spiritual, cultural and financial level.
