While animal-rescue is not my WHOLE life, it is a huge part of who I am. I am hoping to find a man who also is passionate about a cause, or his work, because I would be very understanding about the time and attention that takes in one's life.
That being said, it doesn't mean that I don't enjoy other interests! I enjoy reading (last two books read were Colin Powell's autobiography and The Kiterunner - so many books, so little time (sigh). Discussions about current events and politics (better than a soap opera!) is cool. And "liberal" is NOT a dirty word!
I like listening to NPR or watching PBS (most of what passes for entertainment on the mainstream media is crap).
I'm a tomboy at heart, but still love girly-girl things like bubble-baths, perfume bottles, dressing up for a special occasion, flowers. I'm fairly low-maintenance, not requiring a lot of "bling" or expensive dinners. I love nature.
I also enjoy sports, especially Red Wings hockey and Tiger baseball. Still looking forward to my first visit to Comerica Park. Basketball's not really my thing, but I sure am proud of the Pistons. I can't exactly say that I "enjoy" watching that exercise in futility known as Lions football, but, then, hey, I'm an eternal optimist who waits at least a few minutes into the first exhibition game before saying "Same old Lions."
I'm more a homebody than a traveler (seen Mexico and Canada, and parts of the U.S.), but I do LOVE all things Michigan -- lighthouses, pine trees, the Big Mac, pasties -- and my idea of a cool vacation would be exploring little shops and curiosities in the small towns of this beautiful state.
I am always looking to do things around the house. I moved here in December 2006, and there are so many things that this place needs that are near impossible for one busy person to do alone, especially one who doesn't have a working relationship with power tools. Hope you're handy!
I enjoy most foods -- as long as they are vegetarian.

I like Italian, Chinese, Polish, Mexican and fresh fare like salads. Not too much onion, please.
I am seeking a return to my Catholic roots; maybe you have thought about making that journey yourself -- or perhaps you never left. In any case, feeling closer to God is important to me.
Physically, I'm what I would call curvy and fit, even at 139 lbs. I am trying to get back down to 120, but muscle weighs more than fat, right?LOL My work keeps me trim. Besides my work with animals, I work part-time at night cleaning offices. It's nice to be gainfully employed, especially in this tough economic time.
I consider trust,loyalty and friendship the three most important qualities in a relationship. I know what a good relationship can be if it is built on those things. Chemistry is essential, too -- the ability to communicate effectively, passion, romance -- I miss it, and would dearly love to know it again!
Two qualities I treasure in a man are intelligence and wit -- both very sexy! I prefer someone with left-leaning politics, too.
Sorry this is a poor picture of me. My hair is a little longer, and I do wear glasses (guys who don't make passes at girls who wear glasses don't know what they're missing!

)
The camera needs repair right now, so I can't upload any new pictures. Will do asap.
I'd love to linger over coffee (of course, I'd probably be a geek after all that coffee) and just TALK. I want to hear who YOU are.
