This is how I used to begin my profile:

"Do you ever feel that your life has sadly become boring? Have you lost the excitement and joy that once filled your life? Are you looking for someone to make everything seem meaningful, someone to sweep you off your feet and thrill you, someone to put the sparkle and smile back into your eyes, someone to make you look forward to each new day, someone to make you believe in the magic of love? It seems we all are on that seemingly endless quest to find that right person, that special someone to fill our hearts with hope once again. I'll be honest: I am not arrogant enough to make some bodacious claim like, "If you're looking for such a man, then look no more, for here I am." Only time and time alone can make that claim about me. In the meantime, then, allow me to introduce myself."

But it seems I couldn't get even a bit or two. So let's see what happens if I change things up a bit.

I am a clean-cut, well-groomed, physically-fit, college-educated man. I am gainfully employed (and in this economy, that is saying much!). I am a part-time college English professor at three colleges, and I am a tutor for high school students on the weekends. I am a student again, wrapping up the LAST semester of another MA program in Rhetoric and Composition (come on May 2010!). Although my work & school schedules are hectic at times (those in my profession call ourselves "freeway fliers"), I enjoy my life to its fullest, ever trying to strike a blance between work, family and fun.

So what am I like? Hmmm...good question! I hope that you will find me friendly, warm, passionate, and profound enough to be devoid of the superficiality that seems to run rampant these days. I like outdoor activities & sports (such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, and martial arts) as well as cultural activities (like visiting museums, watching plays, traveling to foreign countries, dining, dancing, catching a movie, and listening to music concerts of all genres).

For me to gladly swim shark-infested waters for you, I ask that you be sensitive and passionate about life and love. I hope that you are romantic at heart and tender to the heart of the man you love. You must be the kind of woman who can appreciate a down-to-earth, "real" man of strength, integrity and consistency. Culture and sophistication are must-haves as they add to the relationship like a fine red wine adds to a meal. Finally, I would love it if you are open-minded and willing to drink deeply and confidently from the well of love and from the chalice of life.
