What are the unwritten rules of dating? Is 8 calls in one day too many? It used to be the 3rd date rule, where you make up your mind about the person, but nowadays nobody's doing the 3rd date thing. Believe it or not, it's more like the 1st date or the 8th. Hmm.
If I get your number on Saturday, I really should call by Tuesday. Wednesday is pushing it, and Thursday is way to late. If I get your number on Thursday, I really have no idea when to call because Saturday is taboo for first phone calls, Friday would seem desperate, and Monday is like a whole lifetime away.
Here's what I go through for you people.
I'm skinny with long feet, but got my sea legs. Can outswim and outpaddle most land animals. Currently boasting the best tan I’ve had since the late 80s. Don’t expect you to care.
I'll strike up convo with any cashier, docent, or cabbie. Their jobs are boring enough!. Seriously, though, I'll debate the socio-political implications of paper vs. plastic or offer a comparative analysis of taking surface street shortcuts instead of languishing in rush hour traffic.
My perfect match and I will get each other in a way that is scary. We'll have inside jokes and often be the only two people in the movie theater laughing. We like to try new things together and go places that are off the beaten path. We're not afraid to stick our necks out socially, but we enjoy quiet evenings at home as well.
If you've made it to here, let me come down to earth for a sec. I'm something of a survivor, and I'm finding that growing up slowly and going out away from Ottawa to see some stuff has given me perspective. Life really is short. I just want to be happy. I seriously don't want to take myself half as seriously as most folks do. We are some of the luckiest people to be here right now. I want to share my life with someone that gets that, has already grown through some healthy missteps, and come out stronger.
Flexibility is key. I can be as patient as the moon, but slap together a camping trip in one evening. Try me!
Lastly, I'm 35 in physical years, but I'm not a day over 32 emotionally. Mentally I've trudged some miles, and spiritually I'm good for a long haul. I don't carry a heavy load. I hope you don't either.
