About Me
Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.
.....Ralph Waldo Emerson
They say a person should switch up their profile on a regular basis, so far I guess I am a little remiss in doing so. Actually this will be the first time I have bothered to consider it.
I will admit that what enticed me to put a profile on POF was the forums, someone had told me about the site and while checking it out discovered the forums. I created a profile in order to participate, apparently I have an opinion and feel everyone is entitled to it. That being said, what keeps me coming back is still the forums. I find them entertaining.
I am not really sure what, if anything, I expect to find online. In a perfect world I suppose I would meet one or more kindred spirits. I might walk away with some new friends to do stuff with or of course that ever elusive "next or last love of my life". Not really holding out too much hope in that department, I still believe that those relationships bite you on the butt when you least expect it, squeezing some fruit in the produce section of some store or falling off your bike on some trail. You know, those moments when we are not necessarily at our best nor thinking of meeting anyone. So far that philosophy has kept me living in the vacuum which I have created for myself.
I work shift work which really can pose a problem for socializing with others that have a more structured schedule. I have a lot of free time it is just constantly changing. I have raised my family and have a great relationship with my extended family as well as my children and grandchildren. Whenever I am able I spend time with my grandchildren, however, that does not mean I cannot find time to spend with a significant someone should I ever encounter one. (just have to hope I recognize them if I meet them.......hmmmmm....something to ponder)
Speaking of pondering, I do a little too much of that. I am my very own worst enemy and spend a little too much time analyzing things to death. A perfect mate for me would be someone able to derail those thoughts and redirect them. Actually the quotes on my profile reflect my belief system very well. I have had relationships in my life that have influenced me greatly and the common thread in those is that person not only accepted me for who I was, they reflected back to me my own personal strengths and positive attributes (recipricated of course), something I can lose sight of. I am grateful for those experiences as they certainly helped in setting the bar and defining the "wish list".
On a less intense note, I really would be open to meeting some new friends to share some time with, maybe go for a bike ride, an evening out, a game of cards. You know, some non threatening leisure time with friends.
I have a rapier wit and sarcastic sense of humour (I know the lowest form of humour, or so I have been told, I have worked diligently at refining that quality....). I truly enjoy engaging in dialogue and exchanging ideas. Ideally I will meet someone who is able to make me stop and think. I am attracted to brilliant minds!!
What else can I say? I am a loyal friend and lover, according to my kids a good mother......okay, okay, I have to stop the self promotion thing, it sorta makes me gag.
If you are interested in getting to know me or just making a new friend say hello.
I hope everyone finds just what they are looking for!!
Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not

First Date
Well, there are many options that I am sure one could predetermine. A bike ride around town or trail, sitting in the sun with a picnic or beverage, preferably overlooking the ocean. Nice way to get acquainted. Open for discussion on options.
themaven has 2 roses that can be sent.
