About Me
I'm a pretty busy guy in general, and given my career, it's difficult to separate work and pleasure. I'm quick-witted and sarcastic, and I hold humor in high regard. I have to be very serious at work, so on the home front, I don't take things too seriously, and I'm always looking for the bright side, or trying to find a bit of a smile in the worst situations. Laughter is very important to keep your perspective on life, and I look for it everywhere. I have a 20yo daughter who stays with me on and off, and we get along famously. I prefer intelligent, engaging conversation, and I'm quickly frustrated by people who talk endlessly about minor issues. But on the other hand, you can often catch me singing stupid songs to the cat or mumbling sillyness to myself. I don't worry much about my appearance, am clean at night and dirty at work, I often forget about haircuts and shaving for longer than I should - I suppose a laid-back appearance could also be called a lazy appearance, call it what you will, but I'm told I clean up pretty well :) I also have a much-criticized belief that instead of adjusting my spending for my income, I can adjust my income for my spending desires. You can have anything you want - it's just a matter of how hard you're willing work for something. I'm definitely guilty of working way too much. Another trait is that I don't respond well to structure and rules. Big companies with handbooks, rules, and "disciplinary activity worksheets" are definitely not my style, which is why I started a business. This kind of thinking runs over into my personal life as well. I don't like plans and itineraries, and I don't like being pressured into something once I decide not to do it.
I believe above all, trust and honor are things that are not negotiable or open for interpretation. Lying, cheating and self-created drama is for TV, not real life.
I'm looking for that elusive person that also puts trust at the top of their requirements list. We can spend our lives with lots of stuff, but in the end, all you have left is your honor, and you can't rewind.
For those that need a check-list, I like to go to local bars to see a band now and then, usually getting quite hammered in the process. I don't drink at all during the week and I stay home during the week. I smoke plenty, but not in my house, would like to quit, but haven't yet. Coffee is a gift from the gods, cooked ham is required food in the fridge, and lobster is required on any menu I look at. Tomato sauce is never on my plate. Without an alarm, I always oversleep and I'm often still milling around the house after midnight with Comedy Central on while checking email. I don't like going to the movies - but I made a nice theater in my living room where I can access any snacks I want. Comedy Central and Speed channels are popular with me, as are drama/adventure/sci-fi DVD's. South Park is my daily dose of stress relief. I read technical books feverishly and it's common to find engineering books on the coffee table. Lou the cat has become my good friend and will not be leaving anytime soon.
There is alot to learn about me(even for me), but be aware that fast cars will always be a major part of my lifestyle. You don't have to be interested or involved with them, but if you hate them, you won't like me. I live out in the country on 6 acres in the middle of the woods, and I think anyone who enjoys city life has a screw loose, but I like that I can access 3 different cities in 30 minutes. I think that's a fair explanation of me. In general, a complicated guy with a complicated life. But I'm loving every minute of it :)
