About Me
Baseball is my favorite sport, coached the HS game for years. Spending a lot of time on the field made me a lousy fan later. I enjoy going to games, but end up coaching the game in my head while watching it, so not a big talker at games. I like music, especially rock, along with country, blues, jazz & some opera types. My personality is a combination of tongue-in-cheek and an accidental poker face. The poker face is because I have a bit of a hearing loss. I can carry on a conversation while bowling, we just might not be talking about the same thing :) Scenario -- someone could say "nice hair." I might say, "thanks, but I hate those 8-10 splits."
A turning-50 epiphany, I'm just not wild about classy types, sorry. The small-town in me, I guess. I welcome being proven wrong, but it hasn't been a good match for me, whether with friendship or a relationship. I also find amusing that some people claim they have no issues, yet take issue with those who do. ...for some reason that kind of thinking is oddly funny to me. I believe most every divorced person has issues, me included such as with classy people, but then classy people probably aren't real keen about me, either. Now, if you're fun and have a devilish personality, I certainly have no issue with that. I'm devilish myself.
I have a quirk or two, for example, I get a song in my head and beat it to death humming it... Lately it was Baha Men, "Who Let the Dogs Out.... Woof! woof!" ...there I go again. Now I'm into a Luther Vandross Christmas album. Yeah, the whole thing. "...I'm not gettin' under that mistletoe with you anymore. You don't know how to act... The last time I got under that mistletoe with you, I had twins... -- some banter from the song, The Mistletoe Jam. (Not sentimental here, it's an awesome song, a welcomed break from traditional Christmas music.)
I'll check out most profiles, even those I may deem "out of my league." It's a compliment, I'm a curious type and I think of it this way. I'm happy with my 1999 Ford Explorer, put all the miles on her. She's paid for and hasn't cost me dime out of the norm -- yet. But, I still like to look at those vehicles I can't afford, especially old, classic sports cars. My '99 doesn't seem offended by my wandering eye. My dream car is a '75, 450 roadster, Mercedes convertible, preferably red with tan leather interior. What can I say, I like redheads. If I find one, reasonable, I'll get it and settle into the life of a one-car, one-SUV man.
First Date
Just interested in connecting with people on POF and getting rooted for now. 12 years divorced, so no hidden woman here. But I am new to DFW [7 month KC transplant] and it is three times the size of KC. It has taken time getting acclimated. Heck, I'm still struggling to understand the DFW rules of the road. So far, I don't see any. Good luck to all.
