I watch the world through calm eyes and soft-spoken humor. Both friends and strangers find me easy to talk to. And while I have great stories, given the choice I'd prefer to listen. I've been, done, and seen more in my life, than most people get to do in several life-times. I like adventure, and look forward to the next one. I'm not particularly fond of crowds or smoky bars, preferring the quiet of a remote hiking trail, wind through the rigging of a sailboat, or getting lost in a Jeep with a sleeping bag in the back.

I have the soul of an engineer, not that of a poet. So if you are looking for that overly sensitive guy who enjoys chick-flicks and reading sonnets while serving breakfast in bed ... I'm not him. When it comes to philosophy, sports, politics, or religion, I have the attention span of a spaniel with tourette's. I leave both cooking and singing to professionals, and dance like the proverbial white-boy.

I could go with the standard "looking for independent, self-sufficient, no drama, personality and chemistry" cliches, but then I might miss out on the one exceptional, needy, semi-neurotic, self-absorbed, inner-child worshipper with a Prius fixation. I suppose my only hard and fast requirements for those I might take an interest in is that they not smoke, have a healthy body-weight, and not mind occasionally getting wind-blown.

I'm not much for long drawn-out e-mailing , IM (doesn't seem to work), or talking on the phone . I prefer to be able to see the eyes of whom I'm talking with. So my suggestion for a first date is lunch or meeting at some coffee shop or book store. After that, depending on her comfort level, a nice ride on a motorcycle or open jeep to a good restaurant. Nice meal outside on a deck. Relaxed, quiet conversation.
