Thank you for stopping by. A very nice Hello and please enjoy the nice songs while you read on :)
In our own time, everyone goes through various periods of self-discovery. Sometimes this may be quite intense and at other times, it is at a more leisurely pace. Invariably, we encounter challenging periods which in hindsight affirm an our maturation and personal growth -- evident in the overcoming the various oddball situations and challenges.
Early on and with credit to my parents and grandparents, I quickly learned to focus and embrace the various important virtues in life. Virtues are universal and unchanging! So in establishing a life anchored to those timeless values and standards, I continue this journey in life while surrounding myself with decent people and perhaps a good woman one fateful day. Undoubtedly, I credit my family for their remarkable foresight in equipping my siblings and I for life - to be prepared for good times and not so pleasant moments ahead.
As this journey takes me through life, even as I grow wiser, more tolerant, more forgiving, and with more patience, I hope you are one of the fabulous people who cross my path daily.
On a cautionary note, I've also learned through observation to avoid that terrible trap of becoming a "bigot on excellence", unhealthily obsessed with perfection. Nobody likes being around an anal retentive person. Goodness, those 2 words even sound nasty!
I'm sure you probably have come across people who are super spiritual and ever so self righteous! They think that they are always "right" If there are any faults, that nasty little finger invariably points outwardly. Don't you agree that such a lifestyle is quite miserable! Lets not impose upon ourselves and especially on our loved ones such misguided or maligned attitude. Its robs us of the joy in our relatively brief stay on this amazing "little" green planet. We can be spontaneous but lets not throw caution to the wind either.
I've traveled extensively and lived in numerous countries since my childhood. It is quite a list but thats not relevant here. However, I noticed a very interesting thing ! Regardless of where I have been, when we make the effort and spend the time to know and sincerely appreciate a person... anywhere on earth... regardless of cultural, or language differences, we will recognize that within the core of a truly decent and kind person... in that intelligent individual worthy of being a friend for life... he or she will not cave in to petty political diatribes, unclear religious opinions or questionable traditions to ruin a precious budding friendship.
I'm sure you have encountered people who will argue till the cow comes home just to prove a point. But me thinks these people just have to HAVE the last word. The worst culprits are those who absolutely must have the last word on everything! (...shivers at the thought of being in such a situation!)
Clarification - I'm not referring to hypocrites or those "hellbent politically correct" types who will ruin a friendship just to preserve their "unspoken agenda". Where is the honesty... life doesn't need anymore complications that what is already bowling us over with. It is nice to be R.I.C.H which was something my grandfather taught me in these lettters to my middle name...Reliabiliy, Integrity, Courtesies, Honesty and never forgetting the fruit of the spirit.
I've made many endearing lifelong friends from many lands. Sometimes I wish there weren't any of those "national" boundaries. Something which men created over the thousands of years as part of "dominion rule". (Who wants to do a term paper on this? just kidding!)
So when you become my friend, you have graciously granted me a lovely privilege which I won't take lightly. It is not a trivial thing but a wonderful opportunity to discover and share the joys in life. That is quite a privilege. Anyone in disagreement would not have read this far ;)
While I have fond memories of places and times spent in Europe, the Orient, Australasia and Latin America, I recognized that it is the people I know and met who makes a place significant! It is the local populace which forms the cultures and give birth to traditions... creating a rich fabric of sights, colors, sounds and smells! What a beautiful tapestry.
( BIG PAUSE... have I exceeded my alloted time? ...darn those TV infomercials with their time limits.)
Talking about smells... before I forget, let me say something about food and cooking. Yup I can cook.. (If Yan can cook, so can I.. have you seen that PBS series?) :) I love a deliciously prepared meal (secret ingredient - lots of TLC) and good company. So if you too can cook, plenty of good times await. If you are still learning how to cook, well we can try not to bump into each other near the gas stove or rush for the sink at the same time.
I do have a spare apron if yours is missing. Unfortunately, it is not pink! No I won't let you color it with the vegetable dyes.
So in this short time we all have on Earth, let us not be consumed by the inherent self centeredness of our fallen human nature... but to appreciate everything and everyone around us! You, my friend are certainly an important presence and indeed you are a gift with no equal! (This is no flattery! Since you have bothered to read past my second sentence in the first paragraph... I really do appreciate you more than you know already!)
Alright, enough about me. Let me learn more about you... what makes you uniquely special. Of course, I would love for you to become an endearing friend! Remember.. true friendship knows NO SEASON and it transcends time.
First Date
Supposedly we live in an emancipated society. Nonetheless, so called old world courtesies prevail in my family. We were raised where there is no hesitation about holding open a door for a lady regardless of age or the simple manners at a dining table at home or in public....or not letting a woman wait on you even if she is your own mother.
Now that I have those "formalities" out of the way... Who doesn't enjoy a nice meal...especially when it is a lovely dinner at a good restaurant where the din or chattering diners are not threatening to overwhelm our ability to hear each other. Well, certainly not on a first date unless both had agreed to go to a carnival. lol With the right ambiance and an efficient waiter or waitress, polite conversation, pouring you a delightful goblet of good chardonnay...while soft unobtrusive music flowed like wine and the lovely wine flowed like water...
Who knows, it might lead us to that fabulous moment where I can simply gaze into your wondrous eyes connecting at a level where words fail and to see that gentle smile playing across your face... ahhh so it seems time has finally stood still...the exquisite moment has arrived... for me to admire a sight to behold... where even a Renaissance master of yore falter in his dignified craft. If I may, I'd love to whisk you away high up into the clouds where heavenly delights ring peals of laughter from within your soul even as your face glow its loveliness so radiantly -- beyond a mortal's description.
So lets enjoy life... and maybe there is that fabulous moment where I can dance while gazing into your eyes... as I connect with your mind, soul ever so gradually enjoying every minute of your delightful presence, scent, and heart warming laughter.
