I pride myself on being able to do things properly. If you can't write three consecutive sentences with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, please move on. I'm looking for someone who is clever and articulate, to whom details matter and for whom "whatever" is a rarely-used word, generally utilised in the body of a sentence and rarely standing alone.

I realised that time travels fast. It wasn't 9 years ago that I was finishing a PhD and moving to Canada from Scotland; Taking the plunge. Living the dream. Checking off the boxes in life, one after another.
But I find myself 9 years down the track, a little wiser, for sure. Still gregarious and optimistic, with more clarity on what I am, what I like, and what I'm looking for.
I would hope that my friends would describe me as fun-loving and free-thinking; I would describe myself as motivated and competitive.
I'm not one for blatant self-publicism. I'm not going to paint an unrealistic picture of what I am or how I look. I'll let my actions speak for themselves as to what I am. My biggest asset is my brain. A very close friend once described me as a guy who would never walk up and start rhyming off material in order to get the girl, but if a conversation happened by chance, she'd likely be captivated.
After an introspective summer, I find myself writing this profile with a better idea of what I want. I've had a cursory look at other on-line avenues, but "WOW" there are a few attention-junkies out there for sure! I maintain my optimism that there's someone for everyone and that if you're reading this far, I've piqued your interest on some level :)
So what do I offer? I'm a hardworking guy with good friends, who's on a great track in life. I'm still checking off those achievement boxes. The friends are great and my social circle is accomplished, polished and fun.
What am I looking for? I'm looking for an equal. Straight up. Someone who's equally comfortable jamming the car full of camping gear one weekend and stepping out for a decent night on the town the next. There might even be the occasional formal event too :)
I'm done with superficiality and ADHD individuals. I'm sure this profile will weed them out. I'm looking for the real deal.
So I guess if you've made it this far, I must have done a reasonable job of keeping your attention.

I've always thought that a first date shouldn't be anything that the second or third date couldn't be either; surely it should be representative of who I am and what I like, along with a little polish and charm :)
I'm most likely not going to be heading out to a rave, mall, or Tim Hortons.
I would be inclined to try supper, a drink, a game or two of pool, walk in a park or along the canal. Even a decent run or bike, but you can't do much talking there, so I'll hold that for afterwards. You can even choose :)
