About Me
I'm probably going to reveal more here than is needed, but what are you really looking for? Someone who'll jump through a few hoops for a while (until it's time to re-write your ad), or someone who's vulnerable and authentic.
Look, I've nothing to hide. I pretty much am just figuring out who I am (I'm in recovery for 2 years (sobriety date 03/20/06). I wear my Judaism, and my alcoholism, like a badge of honor - It has allowed me to become the man I am today - I believe, a good man. I am 45, (46 in August; 5' 6" / 175 lbs),
I'm learning to live like a mench.
Working on a new career (live sound / engineering).
Learning to live and enjoy life in sobriety (the result of which is that I also help other people get sober).
I sing in a Choir at my synagogue where I do the sound (Rock and Roll Judaism?).
I do live sound periodically for a play, and several folk song artists (Let My People Sing series), and sometimes other synagogues.
I volunteer much of my time (I wish I could afford to dedicate more time on this).
I am currently undergoing something akin to Chemo therapy for liver disease (which, by the way has gone into remission as the result of the treatment)..
I spend a lot of time in service to my fellows in recovery, and the Jewish community.
I've done away with most all of the exterior stuff in lieu of becoming someone more substantial on the inside - I often have trouble showing you much until I get to know you better (which sucks, because I am quite a gregarious individual and most will never know it).
Favorites:
Books: Big Book, Torah (the Bigger Book), Ann Rice (and As "A.N. Roquelaure"(pseudoname)). Even Cowgirls get the blues (Tim Robbins), Dean Koontz, Stephen King.
Music: Joe****r, Joni Mitchel, Harry Chapin, Simon and Garfunkle, Smashing Pumpkins, Rush, Black Sabbath, Green Day, Bread (I'm pretty eclectic- Jazz, Reggae, Classical, Rock).
Movies: Lord of the Rings (all), The Whole Nine Yards, Million Dollar Baby, Simply Irresistible (1999), Train Spotting, Skin Deep, Bicentennial Man, Altered States, Hell Boy, Naked Lunch, and horror movies, action/adventure, Cult Classics, Laugh your ass off (till you piss yourself or choke) movies.
Food: Sushi, generally I eat healthy (soy, granola, tofurkey( Trader Joe's kind of guy) though I do have a propensity for junk), Dim Sum, big seafood eater, with a side of cheese (ugh).
Stuff that goes through my head:
Nothing in particular - I'm sorry, this is where some people get pretentious. Does one always have to be chattering. If silence makes you uncomfortable, stop reading now.
I guess if anything, I think about how my behavior might effect others, and how to keep from making the same mistakes again - I think about being more conscientious, considerate, and compassionate.
Ok. I guess if I'm honest, I think a lot about sex - But let me clarify that I've relinquished any power over this until I find someone with whom I can be me (I dislike pretense immensely).
What's the bottom line - I am looking to share a nice quiet life with someone who is honest and compassionate, and is willing to see that the world has a chance to change, and to try to be part of that change.
First Date
Anything - It appears that most folks are into pretty casual first meetings - Come to my work... You'll love the service/entertainment (kind of like Judaism / AA / Rock and Roll show - Dinner is served right after the service).
You should contact me if:
You believe in Love - The kind that people build, and not "Fall" into (which by proxy, also means you can "Fall" out of).
You understand this prose: "I am in Love with you." That is, I am in Love! Hoping that you might join me.
If it's ok that I cry at movies, and that I believe in miracles (I am one, and so are you).
If you're looking for simple, and not the big a roller-coaster ride. I had enough drama in my addiction - I'm much more attracted to tranquility and stability these days. If these things are on the top of your list I want to hear from you (we'll figure the rest out).
I must also let you know I might be kind of reticent to email you, though I am sure that honesty is the "Right" thing to do (and it's worked for me in the past where employers are concerned), I am still not sure how that translates to the relations arena.
Contact me if you think it's reasonable to encourage growth in someone who reaches out to do the right thing.
Lastly, if you're looking for me:
The following is the result of my Sexual Turn-ons Test...
The Passionate Lover
You get turned on by acts of pure, sometimes raw, Passion. Lust and love go hand in hand for you, and without Passion in your lovemaking, there would be little desire for sex. To you, the intensity of being in the moment is what it's all about, and you make your partner feel as though he/she is all that matters. The only challenge is, of course, to keep that Passion fueled. Master that and you'll have true happiness.
