About Me
How many bones can you fracture in one season, anyway?? What a summer!
As to me, my activities might give some clue.
I love mountain sports; - Mtn. Biking (X-C to North Shore crazy) - Rock Climbing (Inside and Outside) - Skiing (taught at local hills) - Snowboarding - Hiking - Ice Climbing
More traditional sports; - Sailing - Kayaking, Canoeing - Tennis, Raquetball, Squash, Badminton, Ping-Pong - Dancing (Ballroom, Swing, Salsa) - Some golf - Skating (long ago)
I am a quiet, low key, friendly guy. I am supportive, helpful, and empathetic. Friends have described me as generous, polite, humble, chivalrous, and noble. They probably owed me money, when they said that. I think I am gentle, patient, insightful, caring, loving, gentlemanly, and occasionally awkward. Born to ski.
I am interested in Astronomy, Art History, Physics, Psychology, Computers, Cars, Bikes, and more esoteric stuff. I wish I understood half of what Stephen Hawking does.
I took almost everything in university; Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Psychology, Anthropology, Art History, French, English, Statistics, Experimental Design, Studio Art, Psychoneurology, Computer Science... etc.
I love; cuddling, dogs, single malts, chocolate shakes after climbing, dark beers, Halloween, reading, hot chocolate after skiing, fresh powder in the trees, the smell of climbing rubber, the sound of climbing gear on the walk off the Chief, red wine, ethnic food, snow on the air, falling leaves, art, sketchy lines - survived, hot rock at my back and clouds in my eyes.
Symphonies, ballet, art, plays, Shakespeare, Jazz, dancing... I do that - may even wear my kilt. Days in a tent, greeting a new day on a glacier from within my mummy-bag - I can do that too.
I am a Geek - I make computer networks dance. Run bits of the Internet. WiFi to firewalls.
I may ride some mountain trails for 4 hours, and climb for 6, and ski/board for 4, in a busy sport week. So I am pretty fit. Not a couch potato, though I am not hyperactive by any means. More a mellow person, who likes to play in the mountains, and challenge his limits. Am I an eclectic enigma? A curiosity? A Geek with a rope - who rides off cliffs... Certainly someone like yourself, ie. someone worth getting to know! Come play with me, and relax afterwards, talking about anything that crosses our minds. It's always better with a partner. :-)
-- My partner? She would have to share in some of my passions. To really share a life, you need to share some activities. It would be good if she could bring in something new, too. We have to have a mental connection. If she is smarter than me, (not too hard), that's a bonus. :-) Chemistry? Of course... but that can take time to grow...
Compassion, affection, support, understanding, maturity - important to me. Cuddles, touching, affection, love, sharing - being the strength for each other, when needed. The safe harbour, when needed, and the zing, when needed. I need someone affectionate and true. Open, honest, safe, nurturing, loving. Partners in as much as possible - yet being ourselves as well as partners.
That's what I want - a supportive woman. An equal or better. Perhaps independent, yet needing me, as much as I need her. Wanting to make a life together. Willing to make things work. If she lights up my universe when she walks into the room - perfect.
Don't let all the above scare you off. I don't require a superwoman, or a hard-woman. Just someone to do a couple of my passions with. Maybe someone who is interested in learning more of the above. Being a supportive, generous, open, friend, is the start.
The colour of one's hair, the colour of one's skin - it isn't important. It's how we feel about each other, and the connection we have. Being fit is important, considering the activities I love.
I hope to find someone to at least share some activities with, if I'm lucky, I may find someone to share my passions, my love, and my life.
First Date
First Dates!!
That depends so much on the person, the season, the time available...
A nice winter day; perhaps snowshoeing to a view point on Seymour - with hot chocolate and some decadent goodies for a mini picnic. A good place to talk and appreciate this great city. Perhaps skiing or snowboarding together, with a dinner after... or drinks by the fire. Red wine and chocolate?
Summer; A nice small hike, a walk through Lighthouse Park, biking for ice cream... If the person climbs, maybe we can do some climbs at smoke bluffs, or do a few hours indoors, with tea or coffee after. If they ride the more amusing bike trails on Seymour, maybe a shuttle of Corkscrew, Pingu, Pangor... With a long chatty rest somewhere with big healthy drinks.... or not so healthy.
A play? A concert? Jazz somewhere cool...?
I just don't feel a quick meeting over coffee does much justice to learning about each other. I'm not a chatter, and can be quiet at first. :-) I'd rather have a play-date fun thing. :-D
