Where are all the men in Courtenay? Been off and on POF, not interested in long distance relationship, would prefer to see someone close by. I'm a single parent of three children, only one living with me at the moment. Recently moved to the Island and loving it, now just to find someone to enjoy it with and possibly show me around.

A little about myself. I'm First Nations but grew up in the City, Vancouver for the past 30 years. Just moved to Courtenay, was tired of the hustle and bustle, stress, constantly worried about my kids. I have a good job, been there for 21 years, but taking some time off. Not that I can afford it, but I'm able to provide for myself and my kids. Been a single parent, never been married, but have had long term relationships. I have been single for over a year now, would like to meet new people and enjoy what life has to offer.

I'm on the quiet side, soft-spoken, a good friend and listener, will try to help anyone that needs help, don't like to be helped unless I really need it. Once you get to know me and I'm comfortable with you, I have a good sense of humour. Love meeting new people, have lots of friends in the city, but not many here in Courtenay. Have no problems talking to strangers, not shy, confident, will not tolerate mistreatment of anyone or anything. Will speak up for myself when necessary, like to right the wrongs, etc...

I'm very well liked by everyone, lots of friends and huge family. I love to help out my people, community, do volunteer work. I'm a giver and not a taker. I love First Nations Art & Culture, I'm a new artist that is still learning how to carve masks. Although I need a new teacher, my previous teacher was my ex-partner. Not many carvers that I know of here in Courtenay.

Another reason I moved here was because my father is quite ill, so moved here to help my mother take care of him. I'm really loving the quiet Island life, its so beautiful and serene here compared to Vancouver. Not that Vancouver isn't beautiful, its just that its too busy.

I'm still having a hard time feeling settled in my apartment, maybe because I'm not quite unpacked. Just not feeling too motivated to finish unpacking, maybe because the weather has been quite nice and its a waste to have to be indoors when I could be outside enjoying the sunshine and the scenery.

I'm not a high maintenance kind of woman, but do care about how I look, very casual, but not too casual. Haven't been out yet, don't know anyone well enough to go out with, or even know where to go.

I do enjoy the outdoors, but must say have not had the opportunity to go camping or hiking, lived in the city too long. Was too busy with work, social life and kids. Now that I'm on the Island, would love to go exploring. I do bike a lot, I don't have a car, maybe that's a good thing, seeing as how gas prices have gone through the roof.

I'm living with my son, who is 11, two daughters that don't live with me. So its pretty quiet here at home, my son spends a lot of time out with friends or going to the park. So mom needs to find new friends to hang out with and enjoy Island life. Any takers?

Very easygoing, what ever we decide to do together is fine by me.
