About Me
Hi... I'm Garry, About me- 5'10", 175lbs. Quite single, teeth (good), hair (curly), memory (slowly fading), no history of mental illness in the family. Well ok then, there was that one uncle... he never really was the same after the accident. But- moving right along... even more about me... athletic, stay in good shape, shower regularly, 'attractive enough' that we could venture out in the daylight. Reasonably articulate, sense of humour (some days better than others), good general knowledge, able to hold up my end of just about any conversation. In fact, during a couple of meet'n'greets from here, I ended up holding up both ends... and have to admit I found myself quite interesting. I believe that I'm fair, considerate, straightforward and sincere; I make a good friend; dogs and kids and mothers seem to like me; hardly any bad habits (although- I do get crumbs in the butter dish sometimes... personally I find it adds flavour and texture, but women don't seem to like it much). Love adventure, don't do routine very well... prefer to live a life a little less ordinary. Done some travelling in a previous life, never enough, lived several years in the Middle East, travelled in Europe, the Far East, skied the Alps, road tripped through Mexico and Central America; but a couple of weeks in an all-inclusive Jack Tar is sounding pretty good about now. Like to cook, hate to clean, really hate grocery shopping; good with tools (power) and generally quite capable and good at the things a woman would want a guy to be good at. Ahah, caught you- keep it clean...! ;-) Enjoy road trips, adventures, outdoor patios, shooting pool with a pitcher (or two) of beer. Full moons, new moons and starry nights, something totally mesmerizing about watching storms approach across the water. Changing seasons, extreme weather, cold nights and warm fires, sunsets (the occasional sunrise), languages and cultures, good manners, good speling and gramer. Trying to acquire a taste for olives, can't get the green ones down my neck though. And of course, like so many others... looking for 'chemistry and my soulmate'... love roaring fires, sending flowers for no reason, romantic candlelit dinners, weekends in Paris, long walks on deserted beaches (I understand there is one left somewhere in East Timor), snuggling on the couch, and quite naturally spending my weekends hanging out with your kids, talking about your ex, and petting the various dogs, cats, parrots and gerbils generously shared in your profile pics. Absolutely no time for rudeness, insensitivity, self-importance, prima donnas, arguments, All Bran, McDonalds, or cyber-sex (I just don't get it... if I'm going to have sex, I really wouldn't mind being there) :-| And very important- no head games! Not entirely sure what a head game is, but it seems that no one wants any so I figured I'd better throw that in just to cover my bases. Also, no players! (not sure of the protocol, it may be that only the women get to say that.... will have to consult Markus and the fishrules) :-|
The lady I'd like to meet would be attractive (to me)- strong physical attraction is a huge part of it. (ok so now you may have to sue me) Of course, once the physical attraction part is determined, the seriously tough stuff begins. Certainly is a complicated business...! :-| She would be fit and active, maybe able to play a few sets of tennis or swim to shore without needing an oxygen tent or a medivac. The occasional cerebral process would not go unnoticed. A little bit of an attitude would keep it interesting; just a little bit too much and it quite quickly becomes a pain in the keester and such a non-starter. See what I mean about complicated?? She would be low maintenance, not afraid to pitch in and get a bit dirty sometimes (love that little bit of tomboy), appreciate the outdoors and the simple things. She would like garlic. She'd be spontaneous, not sweat the small stuff, and have an easy laugh... because life is just too short. And..... a little bit of class goes such a long way! I spend much of the summer sailing Georgian Bay and I'm always looking for a galley slave. I mean crew. No experience required, but a love of the water and a sense of adventure would be a good start. Friends first works for me, the rest either happens or it doesn't. And I'm always open to making new friends... seems new friends are hard to come by at this point in life, and sometimes the ones you do have either get weird or move away or marry someone you don't like. So a few spares would be good. SO... if you'd like to meet someone new, whom you just might find interesting, and maybe do some sailing and possibly have some fun while patiently waiting for Brad Pitt to deliver your next order of egg rolls, let's have a chat and see if we can stand each other in small spaces. :-) And don't forget... let's be careful out there!
First Date
First meetings generally best kept short and flexible, with a credible means of escape close at hand... way easier making a short date longer than a looooong date shorter. And starting with a profound sense of relief would be better than a serious shock to the system. :-|
