Some of my friends call me eccentric, but I seem pretty normal to me! I’m high on energy and curiosity, and I like learning and experiencing a wide variety of things in a number of different areas of life, but not too many of them are “normal.” For example, doing graduate work in several different fields has been fun to me, and lately I’ve been spending Saturday mornings working on a thesis in philosophy. But then Saturday afternoon I’ll head out on a long bicycle ride in the country, and Monday it’s back to my challenging engineering job. I’ve lived in a number of cities in the US including Charlotte, Atlanta, San Diego, Los Angeles, Austin and now Annapolis. Also lived for a while in Europe, Canada and Australia. People mostly describe me as a nice guy, sincere, smart, leader type, easy to listen to, humorous and fun. Someone once said my middle name is “project” –I’m always working on something like a new gadget or system for one of my unusual vehicles, home or a patent submission through my company. I work for a very large consulting company and lead big technical engagements as a systems engineer specializing mostly in software development. As a sideline at work I teach public speaking. I also love to sing, used to teach dancing and am always game for travel (especially if the trip has a purpose—I’m not a good passive tourist), or for seeing a new place, new restaurant, or new bike ride to do. If you had to sum up my personal style, I’d say “geeky-cool.”

One of my passions is cycling and more recently inline skating (aka rollerblading) and it would be great if you were into one of those things too, but I’m not a competitive type and certainly don’t feel the need to compete or show off for someone I’m dating. I do work hard to stay fit and in shape, and so I do want someone who shares this priority, but I have no “minimum athletic performance requirements.” ;)

Match is so funny. I think it’s like a box of chocolates—you never know what you’re going to get until you take a bite. So what am I looking for? Well, believe it or not, someone not TOO much like me! My "type" is the stylish, feminine, playful girl who's also smart, successful, spontaneous and fit, and who likes the intellectual, accomplished, high-substance but fun and perhaps eccentric kind of guy.
