About Me
A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. I work hard, don't we all....and what for? To enjoy every second of life. I've been spending some time down by Echo Park lake on the weekends. Don't laugh! Not like im swimming in that water! But it really is relaxing to just lay on a blanket and read a little or just doze off. I've seen some Japanese businessmen down there almost land a 10 lb catfish!
I also like dive bars, swimming pools (got one?), strumming my 6 string, seeing live bands and capturing their soul. I love wandering around stores. I am an educated consumer. I love to cook...what would you like? Entertaining is something I'm good at. Sometimes my jokes are a bit off color. I'm out there and I catch heat for it sometimes, but I'm a good natured person most of the time and was raised a gentleman. I like drawing pictographs on backs and love to receive as well.

BOOKS: Kitchen Confidential, A Cooks Tour, Anything by Lenny Bruce or Charles Bukowski, Town Smokes by Pinckney Benedict, Richard Brautigan, esp Trout Fishing in America, Power of Myth, One Man's Wilderness, The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake, Hickory Wind (life of Gram Parsons) by Ben Fong Torres....I like magazines too...currently getting ReadyMade.....I like to read out loud to people...esp bedtime stories...

MOVIES: Lots.....but I'm no film nerd......ElectraGlide in Blue, The Long Goodbye, We Jam Econo, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Spirited Away, Star Wars, Raiders, Who's that Knocking at my Door, The Thin Blue Line, Mean Streets, Days of Wine and Roses, The Apartment, Big Night, Midnight Cowboy, Chinatown, Wall-E....

TEEVEE: The Rockford Files, Quincy,House, Lost...The Wire (Welcome to Hamsterdam!), Deadwood (have to love any show that says **** more than I do), Dexter, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Little Britain, 2.5 Men, Twin Peaks, The State, CSI Miami (has some of the BEST cinematography), Liquid Television...Hoolihan and Big Chuck (or Big Chuck and Little John), PBS cooking shows...David Letterman the old days pre-bypass. Did you see when he poured "some tea for the lady?", the monkey that attacked him? That was some extremely funny shit.Lots of old shows keep coming back to me.

MUSIC: Gram Parsons, Randy Weeks, Mike Stinson, Sockeye, The Zutons, Elliott Smith, Afghan Whigs, Hyper as Hell, Boy in Love, Black Flag, The Mades, Uncle Tupelo, WhiskeyTown, The Court and Spark, Silversunpickups, The Supersuckers, Merrick, Jonathan Richman, U2, REM (Murmur, Reckoning, and Fables...what happend to them now?), Wilco, The Movies, Rex Aquarium, December Stars, Paper Planes, Gina Villalobos, Gush, M. Ward....Plenty more, past, present, and future....If you haven't heard of some of these bands....it's probably cause they are local and you need to get out more, or they broke up and you missed them!

FOOD: Know this, I'd much rather cook, BUT that said...there are some places I really like in LA. Taco Spot - In Eagle Rock. The BEST. .Brite Spot...I have the worst stories about this place...I think I got severe anxiety from this place a few times, but if you get the oldest lady in history you are in like Flynn. They have awesome Country Fried Chicken, with mashed potatoes and gravy and if they have corn, you are golden. They still make it a sandwich if you ask them, but they took it off the menu! Home: I got sick there once I think, so that always makes you once bit...but I did go back and saw someone else get served the pork chops! I got it too and the guy heard me order it and he said "Hell Yeah!" Seriously, those chops are HUGE. .Palermos - I live in EP, so just a bit too far to deliver, but I just get their cheese pizza with a dinner salad. Oh wow that's good! .Eatwell - I liked both the one on Sunset in Silverlake, but mostly prefer the one in Glendale, because it's low scene and the parking is easy...but then the one on Sunset fell of the map from what I hear was vermin infestation. f*ck! .Taco Tonto's in Kent, Ohio. Their burritos are different than here, but oh wow are they good and with a couple pints of any one of a number of Great Lakes beer (don't laugh, its some awesome brew) you better get two...MMM. I get their homemade hot sauce shipped out here.
I have a few others, California Wok, Cafe Angeleno (3rd st near the beverly ctr), King Torta!!!damn fine Torta (Just writing this makes me want to go there this weekend!, Pho on Sunset in Silverlake, I like some soup and sandwich at Urth Cafe but what a scene, its worse than Stranger Joes :-), oooNorth End Pizza in Burbank on Orange damn fine pizza, makes me think of Reginas in Boston! Otherwise I'll just cook at home.

First Date
There is a lot to do in LA. I like it casual at first. Lets get a drink early and see if we want to get dinner or a movie or something. If a meeting coincides with something cool happening then thats an option! I'm pretty open but movies or loud clubs on a first date don't lend well to communication!

Freezo38 has 2 roses that can be sent.
