I still enjoy all the fun silly stuff: mini golf, going to street fairs just to eat the funnel cake, road trips to tourist spots (I just love places like Disney that are so artificially nice), etc. I still haven't outgrown watergun fights -- the difference is that as an adult I can outfit myself with those new waterguns that have 40 foot range and hold a gallon of water. Fun is fun, I'm not going to give it up.

About me:
I like to always be working on the edge of my abilities and learning new things. I'm self-taught at a lot of things from guitar playing and juggling to computer programming, graphic design, and photography.

I self-published a pet magazine for a decade. There were always new things to work on: photography, design, marketing, writing, editing, web design, publishing books, etc. -- all creative stuff from someone who once thought they wanted to be an engineer! Since the magazine won a major magazine industry award, I take that as approval for my sloppy grammar and tendency to make up new words as needed. Supercalifragilisticeditoriallicense.

Right now I'm doing pet portrait photography as a thing to do while I'm putting the pieces together for my next real publishing business (resources for people with chronic health conditions -- something that is very personally significant to me). It's an ambitious project, so I'm taking the time to make sure I start it off right. In the meantime, I like animals and I like being my own boss and setting my own pace.

Hard to describe, but I'm not stuffy and I'm not "corporate." I'm not a suit-and-tie guy (except when the occasion genuinely calls for it -- at which point I wear one well and I know how to tie a tie). I've already done the "work myself to near-death" thing, and I'm not going to do that again.

I don't think this is common for guys to mention in their profile, but having children and raising them well is something that is important to me. I want to be an active parent for my children (when I have them) and be able run around and play with them, go on bicycle rides with them, teach them to exercise (by setting a good example), etc. So I'm only working towards ventures that would allow me to set my own hours and choose my own lifestyle (I have no intention of missing school plays or any of that other great stuff). I'm not a health fanatic that will drive you nuts -- but I'm not apathetic about it either.


I'd like to meet someone that I can enjoy being around and build a relationship with a healthy base of honesty, trust, and respect. Someone who understands and encourages me as I keep growing and learning and doing new things and who wants me to encourage them to keep growing and learning new things.
