I'm a 5'9, 165lbs, college educated, athletic and active. There's a long list outdoor activities that I enjoy (some detailed above), but I'm not nearly always out-and-about, I just like many different activities. I'd like to get out more than my current occasional jaunt, and it is so much more fun with a partner, so if you're up for it, me too. Of course I like the local attractions (I moved to Portland for Portland, I didn't follow a job). Sure, lets do the local art and music things, but getting out into nature, whether or not for an activity, is something I enjoy the most.

I'm a huge animal fan, and love meeting critters of all kinds - on a leash, in the wild, whatever. They can tell a kindred spirit, and rarely respond negatively to me. My theory is that if animals like you, you're probably worth knowing. :^)

Probably because my mind is always going, I constantly see associations and alternate interpretations of things, and am frequently good for a witty or erudite comment. You don't need humor to exist, but if you want to enjoy it you do!

While I'd like another good friend, I'm really looking for more. I don't try to force these things - you can tell when there's a spark or not, and even more than that, I'm too empathetic to act like a jerk to someone. I'm looking for a friend, confidante, and lover. I want to share my life with someone with whom I have compatibility and chemistry. If you're bright, witty, considerate, empathetic and thoughtful, then we already have something important in common!

First dates require a place to chat - not a movie or a loud club. Coffee and beer/wine places are fine, but a nice walk somewhere is certainly as good. Something with a short time commitment (just in case), and then you can always say "This is fun - would you like to grab a bite?"
