About Me
I'm one of those who is extremely good at some things, and utterly incompetent at many others. If there is something no one can do, there is often a good chance I can. But if there is something anyone can do, there's a good chance I can't. (You'd never guess which category "meeting people" falls in.)

I'm told I'm a very good conversationalist most times. I can always find something interesting to say, and usually do. I enjoy just kicking ideas around, most any subject will suffice. Long conversations that run far into the night are a chronic risk with me.

I'm not looking for someone too similar to myself, although that might work. Instead, I think you should be able to take the initiative when appropriate, and not resent it when your partner does so at other times. That is what "partnership" is all about, n'est-ce pas? It seems some people can do either but not both. I usually make a game follower, and an imaginative leader. I tend to excel at details and strategy, but dither over goals.

I clearly do not get out enough (else I'd not be here), and am open to ideas along those lines. But perhaps just sharing a cup of coffee and a smile in the morning might be all that counts. It may take a while to get around to making that one work as well as it should, but it definitely sounds like a goal worth aiming for.

I punch hideously complex code for a living at this time. It's probably a topic you'd rather not dwell on. I've owned and run my own business in the past (for nine years). I've been known to write sonnets, villanelles, and all sorts of other things (all doggerel in my opinion, but others usually liked them). I ride to work every day the weather permits. I used to sail all the time long ago. How much of this can one fit in a reasonable length? Define "reasonable".
===================

See where it says I am looking for "talk/e-mail"? That is because I'm generally interested in seeing who is on the other side of the screen, but I'm not looking for a date at this time (nor for sex).

In my experience, dating sites are a complete waste of time if you're actually looking for a date in any event. Everyone's too busy posing.

First Date
The more casual the better. An afternoon stroll in the park would work well. I feel it's important to meet earlier in the process before expectations get out of hand. If it's clearly not going anywhere, there's no harm done if you catch that early enough.
