About Me
Hello!
I chose Portland after living nearly two decades in Paris, where I was a foreign correspondent for National Public Radio. And guess what: I've not looked back. I've traveled to many countries in Europe and Africa and have not found an easier and more beautiful place to live.
I am still a journalist, though my job these days is producing a daily, news-based podcast that always includes music.
I currently live with two rather noisy but totally loving miniature Schnauzers in a craftsman in Portland. The roses need pruning but it's lovely entertaining out back.
Recently, I've enjoyed: Music: Hearing Joe Bonamassa at the Blues Festival and Bumbershoot. Food: Nibbling on a variety of dishes at Pok Pok and Tora Bravo. Vacation: Scuba diving the Blue Hole in Belize (hands-down the best vacation of my life with the possible exception of Madagascar). Book: "The Omnivoire's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan. TV: The election results. Dancing: Zydeco to the sound of Rosie Ledet. Outdoors: Walk on the beach at Gearhart with my dogs.
I am HWP and workout regularly. I have a bluegrass banjo that's turned into an ornament, unfortunately, and have blues, rock and acoustic music on my iPod. I'm especially crazy about da blues.
My politics are liberal, I drink wine and enjoy fun, interesting conversations and all kinds of outings. I'm am easy to get along with and am hopeful of finding a friend (and potential partner) with whom I can share life's joys. I am loving and affectionate, kind and loyal and sensitive and sensual. I have a wicked sense of humor and am spontaneous, but I'm ever so dependable and will be there when you need a friend or lover. I think it's more important to be kind than clever, but together they are magical. A sense of humor is essential and so are honesty, dependability and emotional and mental stability. I want someone capable of living in the layers rather than leafing through the litter.
Of all the pithy phrases I've read and banter I've bandied about, I keep coming back to two words by E.M. Forster:
"Only connect."
Be well, and make each day count.
First Date
That would depend on the individual, the day, our moods and what's going on now. Coffee or wine, either is fine, and both are excellent, though not together.
