Someone told me once that having a conversation is like playing catch -- if you toss a ball to someone who only catches it but doesn't toss it back, the game is over. So this is me, tossing the ball to anyone with a humorous, affectionate, kind, intelligent glove and hoping it'll get tossed back.


OK, about me: I like just about anything British, the beach, books, concerts, stand-up comedy, lighthouses, outdoor festivals, museums, nature. I enjoy TV shows or movies with clever dialogue and tight, well-crafted plots. Also high on my list of interests: anything to do with the Titanic (the ship and its history, not the movie), Tudor England, genealogy, the paranormal, and antiques (I like "old stuff").

When I'm working, I can be singularly focused, but I also love to play. It's important that you like to play, too -- that you have a sense of whimsy and can be silly and even childlike (but not childish). Please don't be stuffy!

By the way, the age posted on my profile is inaccurate. You can ask, but I'll probably lie about it ... at least at first. (If you must have some clue, I'm more than 45, less than 90 -- the photos are recent. Well ... that's if you consider 1956 to be "recent." I colorized them myself! But I digress ...)

I'd appreciate seeing a photo of you, but those that include a shot of you holding a dead animal or a string of fish won't entice me -- I'm not a vegetarian; I just don't like seeing dead things. (I prefer to delude myself that meat comes wrapped in plastic in the grocery store.)


The weather's turning, but there's still time for a walk along the river to look at the fall color before the leaves drop. A glass of wine on the patio on a warm autumn evening seems rather nice, too.

Lunch at a quaint British pub. In London. ('course, I'm just spit-ballin' here...)
