About Me
Patience is a virtue, or so they say....
Updated photos, although not the best. May and June of 2009. The full length photo of me is from September 2008.
A little about me: I am "this close" to being an empty nester. My youngest just turned 18 and will be out of the house soon. I have two other grown children that are already out on their own but still live locally.
I have a very curious nature and love to explore whether it is new places, new adventures, new food, etc. You never stop learning!
Positive attitudes are also very important! Regardless of life's trials and tribulations I look at it all as a learning experience and am still smiling!
I am an artist as a hobby and have had some art shows recently and have even sold a few! I make jewelry and other crafts too. I come from a very artistic family but I am the only one who is actually doing anything with it.
However, I am not musically inclined at all! I do like listening to music though and my youngest son is fantastic at the electric guitar. I definitely do appreciate others musical talents. I also admire writers too and have just started doing some writing myself. That is something I thought I would never be interested in doing but isn't it interesting how your life and interests change?
What do I find attractive in a man? I think intelligence is sexy. I also like a touch of sophistication or class (some people have it, some people don't). But not the type of intelligence that they think they are better than others who don't know what they do.
Someone who smiles with their whole face and is not afraid to show lots of teeth. I love faces with a lot of character, for example, someone like Dennis Quaid. I do have a thing for nice teeth. They don't have to be perfect movie star glow in the dark teeth though. LOL! Mine aren't.
Please, no cougar hunters or couch potatoes. If you are a "homebody" we probably won't be a good fit. I like to get out and do things but am not a party animal either.
There are many things that I have not done that I want to try, and things I have not done in a long time that I want to do again. But it's hard to do or enjoy many things without a partner. A lot of my solitary favorite activites are sedentary and/or mostly indoor activities (such as my painting), so I want to get out more and do more physical activities as well as cultural activities and it is much more enjoyable to do with someone else along for the ride. I want to emphasize the word "experience things" not just "do things".
I just joined a hiking group recently and am having fun with that.
I am also "travel deprived". I have not even been out of the country (except Canada and Mexico) and really want to change that. Again, that is much better to do with someone than alone. There is also plenty of exploring to do locally and in the good old United States as well.
I have heard some great quotes lately, that really touched me.
"Sharing your heart is a win-win situation. Either you learn, or you get to love." "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once s/he grows up." -- Pablo Picasso "It's not really a favor if it is convenient" - Me -----///\\\-----Plz ----///--\\\----Put This ---|||---|||---On Your ---|||---|||---account If ---|||---|||---You Know ----\\\-///----Someone -----\\///-----Who Died ------///\-----Of -----///\\\----Cancer ----///--\\\----Or Who May Be Fighting It.
First Date
The activity on the first date should be simple. Meeting for coffee sounds ordinary but it really is a great way to start for a first meeting because there is very little pressure. If you are not a coffee drinker there are other short "dates". How about ice cream or Jamba Juice? A walk in a park or a visit to a book store (great conversation starters there). I'd even meet someone at a dog park (you would need to provide the dog though) because that sounds fun. The second date can involve more depending on the couple's interests.
