I'm a hard working guy that likes to take full advantage of my leisure time. I have a few hobbies that I enjoy and am always open to new interests and adventures. I'm not sure that I'm looking for that "Special Someone" (aren't we all?), however, I am interested in dating; I like meeting and getting to know new people.

Well, I'm not going to give away all my surprises here, but first dates for me are somewhat unconventional. That's not to say that your typical "dinner-and-a-movie" is out completely. In my experience, this can sometimes be a real date spoiler. Dinner and a movie for a first date doesn't allow for much conversation, getting to know each other. I'm adventurous. First time meeting might be a simple get-to-know-you coffee date. Meet at, say, Starbucks for an hour or so.
For a first date I much prefer something like (depending on the time of year) a trip to the cider mill and a walk through a nature preserve; or, lunch and an ice sculpting contest (great ones annually in Plymouth and Rochester); or, how about pack a lunch, hop a bus, head off to the DIA, or Henry Ford Museum, or Hart Plaza for a free jazz concert (not to worry - I DO have a car). Maybe an art fair or an afternoon at the Detroit Zoo.
First dates should be fun, giving both parties opportunities to fully express themselves, to be spontaneous. To observe and be observed. First dates can be last dates, too, however. Yet that doesn't mean they can't still be fun. Even if I meet someone for the first and last time, I've still met someone new. It's all about showing up. You know, for life.
