About Me
Over the course of my 50 year journey, I have learned some very valuable life lessons.
From my seven year old son I have learned to cherish and savor every moment of my life and to be fully present in the moment, whether it be strolling through the redwoods, cuddling on the couch reading a children’s book, helping with math homework, or sitting in rush hour traffic.
Okay... maybe sitting in rush hour traffic is an exception.
He has taught me that the ability to feel compassion is what makes us human, and that we have a responsibility to not just ourselves, but to everyone.
That there is nothing so important to get me down that a hug won’t cure.
Because he means the world to me, I try to live my life as a positive role model for him... purposeful, confident, directed, with deep integrity and humor, sensitive, spontaneous, spiritually alive and with a heart commitment to discovering and living my deepest truth.
From the male friends I respect I have learned that being a man isn’t about being macho... it’s about being authentic.
That integrity is all about doing what is right when there is nobody watching to impress.
That the difference between being confident and being arrogant is that the former is to bring people up and inspire and the latter is to put others down.
There is a huge difference between being a "nice guy" and a "good man". The former gives away his masculinity. The latter embraces it.
From my woman friends I have learned the following… that high self-esteem quality women want… no… need four things.
First, a woman needs to feel appreciated for the unique individual she is. You need to feel special, unlike any other woman, and you need to know that your man supports you in your endeavors.
Second, you need to feel that deep intimate emotional connection. You need to have that emotional intimacy with a man. It’s a connection you share only with him.
Third, you need to feel like a woman. You need to feel beautiful, sexy, and feminine. You need to enjoy all those things that come with being a woman.
However, the most important lesson that I have learned is that I am not perfect, but I am happy with who I am currently. Life is about growth, and while we continue to grow, we need to be content with the person we are at the moment.
What am I seeking in my life? What I want from a relationship (and almost everything else in life) are feelings.. and the feeling that is most worth pursuing is fulfillment.
Once you think of it that way, you realize that you're not looking for a particular kind of person, of a certain height or hair color or socioeconomic status, but rather the feelings that person evokes in you.
You also realize that fulfillment is more of an internal phenomenon than an external one, depending upon yourself more than anyone. It's not what your parents or friends think. It's not how strangers look at you together. It's about how your values are fulfilled on the inside.
One more thing... believe it or not, I don't rule out friendship. If we're not right for each other, maybe you know someone else who is right for me, or I know someone else who is right for you.
If anything I’ve learned has resonated with you in any way, I would love to hear from you.
First Date
Someplace where we can both feel really comfortable with each other, someplace we can talk openly and freely, someplace where we can laugh and learn about each other. You would find that I am approachable, honest, straightforward, sincere, communicate openly and that I am for real.
I'm not about dating. Dates are full of pressure, people pretending to be someone that they are not, and discomfort. Rather, I am into discovery... learning about the other person and having a great time. Isn't that what's supposed to happen when you meet someone with whom you may experience a connection? Me, that's how I see it.
