Once you get past my initial shyness and sometimes self-deprecating humour, you’ll find I’m a raging egomaniac! Ok, not really, I am human – I have confidence issues in some areas and make mistakes from time to time but I always learn a lesson. I can be opinionated but I generally remain open-minded. I don’t suffer fools well and have little patience for self-pity or self-destructive behaviour. I’m fiercely independent and value my personal time and space so I am not looking for someone to fill some void rather I’d like to meet someone to complement my life. That said I’ve tried the no-strings, casual encounter thing and decided I need a deeper connection.

Boring though it sounds, I’m pragmatic and like routine but I can be spontaneous from time to time. I have an unwavering work ethic and am educated with a Master of Arts degree in political science. I’m professionally employed as a law clerk for a municipality where I do in-depth legal research, draft contracts, by-laws and reports. I also work a second job part-time – why, not sure, but I like it anyways.

I’m not athletic or lean, but I consider myself to be strong, solid and fit (notwithstanding a few expanding soft spots). I have sparkling blue eyes that even catch my own attention from time to time and I’m growing to appreciate my salt-and-pepper hair. My vices include social smoking (how can someone so smart be so stupid, right?), supporting the Niagara wine industry (although occasionally I’ll venture to other parts of the world), spa treatments, an evening of mindless television, gardening and design. I go to the gym but probably not enough. My tastes are dogs over cats, rustic over modern, jeans over suits, staying in over going out.



Looking for:

I’d rather be with a guy who has big goals and no money than a guy with big money and no goals. I admit, I like a bit of a bad boy – not a jerk – but someone who pushes my limits from time to time but pulls me back in with a reassuring hug at the last minute. I need someone who has the self-confidence to acknowledge and expose his flaws, but to truly be happy with himself notwithstanding. I love funny guys who can hold my attention with a story or make me laugh until I cry. I admire creativity and passion. I enjoy a little harmless banter.

Although nothing is set in stone, I prefer to be with a guy who is within ten years of my age, has a similar build, casual style and easy-going (but not a pushover). You are employed or otherwise stimulatingly engaged (i.e. school). I don’t care what you do as long as you love it. I don’t care how educated you are as long as you’ve learned something. Flossing is important. Laughter is essential. Perfection is impossible.

The best first dates happen in the fall and spring and involve a cup of coffee and walks and talks along the Bruce Trail or the waterfront. Basically, as long as there is a chance to engage one another in conversation, I’m happy.
