After having the lyrics of a wonderful song (Girls Like Status) being my description for a while, I've decided to change it over to an actual description of me.

I'm sarcastic, crass, and generally abrasive (you should only list your good qualities on here, right?). The world in general tends to amuse me (mostly due to the absurdity of it all), and I tend to laugh at really inappropriate times (you know, it took two years before I realized that laughing during Schindlers' List was wholly inappropriate).

I live on my own downtown, with a minute (very) view of English Bay (but it's there), and Stanley Park (I can see the trees!). I tend to be a city boy through and through, hobbies tend to include things like bars/pubs (though trying to get people to go to them these days is rough, since I'm the only single guy left in my social circle), the occasional nightclub (Sanctuary, Sin City, Galaxion, okay, those are all at Club 23W these days), watching movies (more often at home than theatre, now that I've got a nice comfy couch and a big tv, it's better than sitting behind some clown recording the movie with his cell phone), trying new restaurants, playing tennis in the spring/summer (no, I'm not any good), going to the pool hall, and wasting time on my Xbox (Yes, I *am* a Guitar Hero, thankyou).

I'm not one of those guys that's into 4x4'ing, camping (no thanks, I like showers on a daily basis, and toilets that you flush, not dig), rock climbing, or similar things. This isn't to say I'm metrosexual by any means, I'm just not big on things where the key element is discomfort.

I have plenty of bad habits (I drink beer (dark, and I'm not an alcoholic, thankyouverymuch)), and I enjoy going down to Vegas for a few days now and then (it's cheap, it's warm, it's entertaining, and I hate long plane rides), but on the other hand, I've been told that once you're used to me, I'm fun to be around, and generally quite amusing.

What am I looking for? I'm not 100% sure, I'm pretty open minded on a lot of aspects. I don't have any preference for race, or body size. I don't care what your education level is (though I would prefer that you either completed highschool or got your GED afterwards) so much as I would care about how intelligent you actually are (the difference between "your" and "you're" is key here). I don't care how much money you earn (though having *A* job would be preferred, unless you're going to school full-time). One of the key things though is that I'm definitely *NOT* looking for a person with loads of baggage and drama. If anti-depressants or anti-psychotics qualify as a food group for you, I ask that you please don't contact me. I've had to deal with too many girls who I wound up becoming an emotional crutch for, and it's just not fun. But if you are relatively sane (as in not likely to hurt yourself or others), and I seem like the kind of person you'd be interested in getting to know (friends or more), then please feel free to contact me.

Update - as of 08/01/2009 I have quit smoking.

I think a first date really depends on a common interest between two people. Suggesting "sky diving" for a first date is going to automatically exclude every person with a fear of heights. On the other hand, "coffee dates" are not only boring as heck, but tend to be short. Scheduling a first meeting that is destined to be short just seems like you're looking for a quick and easy out, which implies you really haven't spent much time talking to the person you're meeting.
