Since describing yourself can be a little like brushing someone else's teeth -- it's kind of awkward and you're probably not going to do it very well -- here is a little something a friend wrote about me that sums it up pretty well:


She is a great catch! She’s down to earth, low maintenance and most of all, FUN! She is a busy gal – between work, volunteering, graduate school, and dedicating time to herself and her friends, she’s always on the go! This doesn’t mean she doesn’t have time for dating, though! It means that she has her own things going on and isn’t needy, dependent or looking for someone to “complete” her.

A Wisconsin native, she loves beer, pizza, cheese, meat and football. She can (and does) hang at fancy fundraisers as well as the diviest of dives. She is a social gal…she’s always organizing some sort of creative get-to-gether (last summer’s “Will You Be My Grill Friend” was a blast! And then there was the "Bar-Be-Cure" fundraiser she hosted. And who can forget the “Eat, Drink and Meet Mary” party to introduce us to her new roommate?).

She is not just a party girl, though….she’s quite responsible and well rounded. She’s a homeowner and superstar student! She has done two years of service with AmeriCorps programs here in Colorado (read: she can tutor a child, build a house (ok, at least paint a house), and cut trail in a state park while blindfolded with one arm behind her back). She is passionate about and committed to service in her community. Her work planning fundraisers at various nonprofit organizations is inspiring!

She is thoughtful and helpful. Most of all she has a huge heart. The people in her life come first…and they know it. She is one those people that manages to make everyone around her feel special.

Other things you should know about her: She’s run a marathon, she can paint a mighty mural, and she can decorate cakes like no one’s business

Would love to meet a guy that challenges me to grow and try new things and to be a better person. He must be someone who is honest both with himself and with others, someone that I can trust. And mostly I'd love to find someone that I can laugh with and be silly with.

I'm pretty flexible and typically up for just about anything. However, I do have to say that I'd rather grab a pizza, a pitcher of beer and go bowling on a first date than get all dressed up and go to some fancy restaurant. Any opportunity to see the real person sitting across from me and share a few laughs is ideal.


And one of my favorite quotes from a bad movie to top off the ideal first date:
