I'm a semi-retired Canadian gentleman living in Manhattan and thoroughly enjoying the good life. I'm fit, highly educated, cultured, traveled, very liberal, and always positive. I am a poor prospect for a husband (been there; done that. Twice) but a great friend and bon-vivant date. Race, religion,socio-economic status, job, hair color are not all that important. More important, you should be articulate, informed, confident and willing to express your opinions. You should love to laugh, to be cared for, to live and love joyfully and not be afraid to put your heart at risk.

The best first date I was ever on was when I took a beautiful, intelligent and accomplished woman to Paris. Since that's not always practical then I guess we'll have to settle for an elegant dinner at a quiet restaurant with good food, good wine and excellent conversation. But the end of the meal we would both feel the thrill of having made a new friend, shared at least a few of our secrets, and be inwardly tingly about the immediate future.
