| | I am a retired minister and a widow since December 2000. I work part time and still keep my hand in the ministry. I still call at the hospitals and nursing homes. My family means everything to me but I do not mean the same to them. They have their own lives. I am not obese, just "vertically challenged". I am attractive. I do not have a picture posted because I am from a small town, however, I will be glad to mail a picture to the person requesting it. I would like a man who can carry on an intelligent conversation beyond the occasional "grunt". I LIKE farmers and professional men. Farmers are the one segment of society that we cannot do without and they are nearer to God in their everyday lives than anyone else. I would like a man who puts God first in their lives, and family second. I would expect him to remember that I have children, too, and would give them equal time and attention. What does it mean when you say "retired"? Do you spend every minute of every day doing absolutely nothing? Boring! Do something! Anything! What??? I want to go places - places like the Covered Bridge Festival, Nashville, Tenn., the Lake of the Ozarks, Branson,Mo, Southern Illinois; Starved Rock State Park; the many Wineries in Illinois;Colorado, Seattle,Wash; many places in PA; Disneyworld....... I have been to none of these places and while I'm still alive, I would love to go! It isn't much fun to go alone and besides I MUST work. Oh yes! I would love to see my friend in Denmark and visit her parents in Belarus and see the family homestead in Germany...... You can see I have big dreams, but I have learned to be content right where I am - at least most of the time. I would expect to be treated as a lady. I am not interested in a man who dates a woman just to see how quickly - or if - he can get a woman to bed. Believe me, I am NOT a "prude"! I am NOT "high maintenance"! I LIKE to dress well. I expect the same of a man - one who knows how to use an iron and when blue jeans are appropriate attire. It does cost money to dress well! I want a man who is independent and financially secure, not one who expects me to pay for everything. I have been that route and for that reason I must now work. I CAN live alone but I prefer NOT to! It gets very lonely being alone all the time and there are so many places a woman can't safely go alone. Saturday, my son said something that made me think - for the first time - that he wished I would find someone! I was surprised! I am so tired of being alone all of the time. I have decided that I will NOT spend another Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Fourth of July, Easter (get the idea?) ALONE!!! Will you keep me company?? I love to cook and nowadays I give it all away. I made a peach pie, a German Chocolate cake, and another dessert the other day. My neighbors loved me! Today I made pineapple muffins and pineapple cookies. They are still sitting on my stove. I also made some chocolate fudge muffins which ended up in my freezer too! I love music, mostly Classical, so I don't expect any man to like it! I DO like all kinds of music! I love being part of the audience and letting the music wash over and around me. I played the French Horn for 6 years and the Band Director wanted me to try out for the Army band! They say that more people die of loneliness than anything else, well, I think if I had played in the Army band I would be unhappily used to loneliness by now! I would also like a man who knows how to laugh and be friendly. I think most of the sourpusses on all the dating sites, either forgot HOW to smile or don't want to! How horrible! Look at your grandchildren! That should make you smile! Even if you are a GREAT grandpa! If you can't be happy, at least LOOK happy! READ my profile before deciding you don't want to date me!I am amazed at the number of men who write that their education is "not applicable"! Surely they are joking! Your education is what made you into the man you are today! And retired? Do you just vegetate now? I sure hope not! Be somebody!!!
Another Thanksgiving went by and I was alone even though I had vowed not to! There isn't even any games you can play alone! Am I to go to my grave alone? I read somewhere that all the good ones are married. How true! I think their wives know what they have! |

I would like to meet for coffee in a public place. I would like him to compliment me (or not) on my appearance. Whatever happened to spelling; and good grammar? I realize most men lack something in the spelling department, but at least TRY! A smile goes over so well with me! Smile! Be pleasant! It doesn't hurt and you will certainly get a lot further than if you talk a lot about yourself only. I would guess my insistence on dress and good English scared many of you away. I am truly sorry but it is better to get these things out in the open now so time spent together can be spent discussing books, and politics and religion and just having fun and laughing a lot! With our hearts open, it should be a whole lot easier to make a decision on whether to take our meeting any further. |
