Women are simply more insightful, smarter, better company, and look and smell better than guys! So, I am looking to expand my set of friends in a gender-balanced way.

I especially would enjoy meeting a woman who is bright, energetic, kind, open-minded, has a fun personality (I am an economist - so relative to me, that should be no problem), is interested in the world around her, and who knows what she wants out of life. *About Me*
I am relatively well-educated and well-traveled, kind, giving, loyal, and honest. I have a good sense of humor (albeit *slightly* sarcastic). Myers and Briggs claim I am an ENTJ. I am comfortable with who I am and where I am in life.

While I enjoy the simple things in life (such as a hike at Maryland Heights with my 10-year-old son or lunch with my daughter*) and even the mundane things (driving at night listening to music), I also enjoy the finer things in life (like dinner at a nice restaurant with a classy lady). Most importantly, enjoying life is best done in the company of family, friends and loved ones.

On one hand, I am a down-to-earth American guy, who thinks DC is the best place in the world to call home (and fell in love with Western Maryland, so I recently decided to make Sharpsburg my second home). On the other hand, I also have a global outlook on life.

I lived in Europe for a number of years and my work in international development regularly takes me to many exciting (and a few not so exciting) places around the world. I have a passion for learning, enjoy meeting people from a variety of backgrounds, appreciate natural beauty in all its forms, respect other people's opinions, and judge people by the content of their character.

*About Online Dating / Social Networking*
I am pretty sure that online dating is one of the worst ways to meet new friends, but I haven't come up with any real alternative. The bar/club scene is not really my thing. Joining a gym to meet girls seems a little bit disingenuous (and most likely, delusional). Hitting on moms or teachers at my son's elementary school would probably constitute a fairly major social faux pas as well. Please let me know if you have any suggestions how a thoroughly good man like myself could meet a wonderful, beautiful woman like yourself, without being on POF?

Although I hope to enrich my life by expanding my set of female friends, please note that I am not looking to play the field or to 'shoplift the pootie'. Since I am gainfully employed and have two wonderful children, things such as having a trophy wife, one-night stands or dating women half my age are just not at the top of my list. Nor am I necessarily looking to jump feet-first into a long-term relationship: I'd rather find my best friend first and let it grow from there.

PS. I adopted my stepdaughter when she was eight and raised her as my own ever since. She is now 22 years old and finished college this year.
